While being with others, be grateful and happy, sharing all the good life has to offer. Offer friendship and love to each one I encounter. Yesterday, I had the pleasure to meet a friend whom I have not seen for many years. We sat together as if no time has passed, a warmhearted meeting in the now, including the essential connection which we share unspokenly. I highly appreciate her very sensitive, humble and vulnerable way of being in this life which once had brought her much grief when she had lost first her mother who was my dear colleague and friend and then her little daughter. In the art she performs, all finds its transformed expression. Such a beauty, living her life authentically and all inclusive. I am deeply grateful for her being there, and in my life again.
These days, it is almost impossible for me to join in, as I cannot use any of my technical tools for unexpected reasons. Please know I am with you all, carrying you in my heart. Hope to be able to share again soon

I share it with others. Sometimes it’s just a smile, or a flower or plant from my garden. I am thankful for my life and although I miss my husband and best friend (he died this year) I know he left me in a better place than I once was.

By acknowledging I am not so different from others struggling in the same manner I am.

Life might be a gift but it can be very, very tough cookies often times.

Maybe I can show someone somewhere I listened to them and appreciated doing so today.

How could I show my appreciation for the gift of life today? I can show appreciation by being mindful of my thoughts. Let’s face it. No matter what is happening in our lives, the biggest battles are always the battles we rage within and I have come to realizes that I need not wage those inner battles alone. Why, because life has proved to be trustworthy. How did I discover this? Paradoxically, I discovered it through surrender to “what is.” When I refuse to resist life, when I give up fighting and fleeing, I am more creative because I am going with the flow. I appreciate the gift of living today. Sometimes it feels like I am trudging; sometimes it feels like I cannot put one foot in front of the other but those are thoughts. I’ve learned that if I trust in this moment and this moment, I do not wage my inner battles alone. No inner thought storm need own me. The fish may swim, the thoughts may rage, but I will rest in calm waters. My son puts it this way. “Mama, you can’t live your life on “what ifs.” May we all forsake the “what ifs” and surrender to “what is” with trust and compassion for ourselves and others. I close with a quote I found helpful:
“Eventually it will be seen that all thoughts are resistance. They are all images that the mind has made to prevent us from experiencing what actually is. When we have been letting go for a while and have begun experiencing what is really going on, we will laugh at our thoughts. Thoughts are fakes, absurd make-beliefs that obscure the truth. Pursuing thoughts can keep us occupied endlessly. We will discover one day that we are right where we started. Thoughts are like gold fish in a bowl; the real Self is like the water. The real Self is the space between the thoughts, or more exactly, the field of silent awareness underneath all thoughts.”

This is so spot on Carol. Thank you. I have been thinking a lot about resisting and why we resist for a while now. I love the way you laid it out.

Beautiful, Carol. And just what I needed to hear tonight. I just got up because i can’t sleep… the worries goldfish and the irritable goldfish were trying to catch mosquitoes or something! ☺

I feel more peaceful now, and though I am not yet as still as water, at least you have reminded me it is there.
      Thank you ❤

I went out on my balcony to do some small rearrangements of the plants. It’s a gift to have this little area outside my condo to beautify. At about 45 deg F, it was cold [for my area] but still ok for being outside briefly without putting on a jacket.

This is in reality the same question as yesterday “Why does Gratitude matter” only the words are different but the essence “behind” both questions is the same …

So the same response as yesterday ….“There is no better way to give acknowledgement and reflection to the source of Love, Grace, Beauty, and existence itself.” And then reducing that down to one word “Awareness” …..but now I sense another word …..”Awaken-ness” as a more complete because it requires non-judgemental “Open-ness” to all outer / inner stimulations …and this chain reaction …..results in heart felt Gratitude………….and a fuller realization of “heart felt Gratitude” …says “Yes! this all brings out the true meaning of the name “Christ-mas” and makes it possible Every Day!

Hi Ed, Thought you would enjoy this short verse I wrote in 2001 after the 9/11 incident.
      BE YOU ALLAH, OR YAHWEH,
      OR JESUS, THE CHRIST,
GIVE US GRACE FOR THE JOURNEY
      THAT LEADS TO INSIGHT.

TO A WORLD THAT WILL TREAT
      EVERYONE JUST THE SAME
SO THAT NO ONE KILLS OTHERS
      WHILE INVOKING YOUR NAME.

      FOR PEACE IS A SEED
      THAT FEAR TRIES TO KILL.
      A SEED ALL MUST PLANT
      DOWN DEEP IN THEIR WILL.

      IT SAYS I’LL CHOOSE LOVE
EACH STEP OF THE WAY —
      EVERY MOMENT, EVERY MINUTE
      THEN BECOMES CHRISTMAS DAY.

Thank You for sharing this Carol, our sentiments resonate .In the Essene circles , when a new member joins, theY are told this simple fact. If six different families lived in one neighbourhood, one Jewish, One Christian, One Moslem, One Sheik, One Hindu and One Buddhist ( all Blessings and peace be to each of these light bearers ) when they pray their nightly prayers …those prayers are returned to each individual family SIX times over. The Light Bearers do not discriminate, prayer is prayer.

So when I walk though the malls or tour the neighbourhood Christmas light shows and see people from multiply different cultures enjoying them and bringing there children to see Santa, it is such a great pleasure to see the “SEED” of “LOVE” right before everyone’s eyes. I am observing this in Canada and in my 9:00 pm Global Peace and Good Will Prayer I always bring back those images and enliven them with inner light.

    By singing a song.
    Morning has broken

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God’s recreation of the new day

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
