That there’s global alignment to the long term solutions, injustice, climate, environment etc. It’s that global coming together of governments for the greater good something we are struggling to do now with vaccines but could do a lot better.
When i imagine this word it’s sound like to improve. there is no limits how much i can be better my self. better word is consistently imrovement for me. but we have to clear what is that thing can better in our selves.
thank you
I go to this site periodically and I am grateful for the depth of heart I find here. John Lennon did give us a great gift with his song, “Imagine.” How lovely it was to see it featured at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Lennon’s great gift to the world.
It starts with me and ends with me, I believe. Faith, hope, and love lead me to a softer, truer, and more holistic way of being. I have learned to be in greater serenity and that is enough.
My “better” world is one where people truly follow the golden rule of loving others as they love themselves. If everyone could truly do this, everything else would follow.
WHEN I IMAGINE A BETTER WORLD , WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
I do not believe we are in a BAD WORLD, I believe the individuals in the world is what can enhance our experience in the world. If individuals were more compassionate, humble and caring the world would be best. If we truly attempted to understand different values vs judging and neglecting them we will not be focused on the negative. Accepting what we have in common, our anatomy, our stress and pressures we will begin to reduce the pressure and stress we apply on ourselves and others. We are all trying to live life the best way we can, we all have stress why not take it easy on yourself and others. NO ONE NEEDS TO BE THE PERFECT PERSON, let’s meet people where they are accept and empower our loved ones and love ourselves… Who is with me?
One in which my grandchildren don’t have to worry about the survival of their great grandchildren! My grandfather worried about his grandchildren and great grandchildren after reading “Road to Survival.”
Indeed, Mica. And that grandchildren will even plan to have children to bring into what they may see as a broken world. Let’s hope a more optimistic outcome will prevail. And in the mean time that fragility of the world makes me appreciate its beauty all the more. BTW hadn’t heard of that book; interesting.
Much closer to global economic equality
Quality food for all
Everyone cared for with compassion and respect: the elderly, mentally impaired, sick, the displaced, the incarcerated, the different.
A level or gently reversing global population (by choice)
Regenerative agriculture, locally sustainable food systems.
Diversity in nature, restored natural areas and habitat
Restored oceans
Clean drinking water, well managed, and not robbed from nature’s needs
Ubiquitous alternative energies
Carbon free transportation, safe, affordable, available.
Less individual consumption
No trash
Climate repair
Democracy
Education for all
No human trafficking
No forced labor
Peace, and no espionage between nations
Better overall health for people, less dependency on drugs
Celebration of diversity of cultures, keeping cultures alive (not melting into mono-culture)
…I could go on. I have been thinking about this question for years so the answer came easily. I try to speak on behalf of equality, climate, and nature to others (gently, I hope), and make effort to bring my actions in harmony with this. Each action we take, every thing we do, say, buy, eat, will make a better world or not. None of us is close to perfect, none of us knows everything, but all we really need to know is that our individual actions matter, and together we become the world we make.
Thank you, Holly, for reminding me that there are so many more valuable people in the world than my grandchildren, tho the question was particularly timely for me, having just discovered a letter my grandfather wrote in 1948.
Not only that – my maternal grandfather wrote the letter about ‘Road to Survival,’ and my dad’s brother, “Uncle George,” had sent me his old copy of the book some time in the last millennium. I’m aiming to submit a letter to the editor about the book and and the survival questions today.
Wow, I have soooooo many thoughts, ideas etc. around this question. I do not want to get on “my soap box”, it is too early in the day so I will simply say, END TO THE GREED & CORRUPTION, so others can simply live. 🙏✨🌟🙏
I think John Lennon’s song “Imagine” has some points for pondering in imagining a world with less violence, less hatred, and more concern and compassion for others. That’s my perspective of a better world. But there lies the rub. That is not everyone’s view of a better world.
It would be natural that each living being in the world would have basic needs fulfilled, like access to clean water, healthy food, a roof over ones head, heating if needed and clothing. It would be natural to help if someone – human, animal or plant- would suffer. It would be natural to care and be together in loving kindness and it would be a pleasure for each one to share the gifts given, material or talents, arts or money, in order to help thriving humanity and to add joy to the fellow people and to the world in all it´s beauty. Peace and happiness for all living beings in a world full of blessings.
It looks like all people respecting and embracing nature. It looks like all being able to recognize that everyone is connected in some way and to show honor and value of all lives. It looks like the commitment and pursuit of “balance” in all things.

It’s one without any problems. I believe that was God’s original intention for Earth.

Common law, plain and simple.

Thanks, Malag – there’s a new book by some Mann that compares “Road to Survival” with another book.
That’s a great way of thinking about it! 🙂

That’s a great list

I wish I had grandchildren, I would think they were my whole world, too! 😀 That is so cool about finding a letter your grandfather wrote!

That just about covers it Holly in Ohio! Well said,
“Each action we take, every thing we do, say, buy, eat, will make a better world or not.” Yes.

My dad was born in B.C., Elaine! I probably still have some second cousins there. 🙂
No kidding! Where exactly do you know? No wonder I feel an affinity to you!

Exactly,
dear Katrina . . .
what is “better”?

I agree with Antoinette about John Lennon’s song. It is a favorite of mine. And so is his vision of a better world. Dream big!
