For so many who are there in loving kindness . For some especially these days. For my chief who offered unquestionable love and friendship in a desperate situation; my beloved sister who took the time to understand deeply; all those who are there with me, sharing of their time, heart and soul; You all here sharing in this sacred space and those who visit here. Thank you all dearly, for being here, for joining, for loving, sharing, laughing, and for doing what you can and for what you do. 🙏😍 And if I may say so, including myself also, trying to live these qualities as best to my ability.
Life in all its forms. The forests, the oceans – all of it.
I am thankful for many people in my life, starting with my child. I am writing this while traveling on the bus, and I am thinking of people in my community—most of whom I don’t know personally—who do the work of, say, running the bus.
I include, of course, the folks on the ground driving the buses and cleaning the parks, emptying the trash and paving the road. But I am also thinking of the administrator planning bus routes and the elected officials who identify needs and make decisions and agreements that make those happen.
Some of these people can get a bad reputation. I am talking about bureaucrats and politicians. But my experience is that a great many of these people are working to build a better society that serves its citizens. And I know that the vast majority of what I do with my time would not be possible without them.
Within arm’s reach: my new ragdoll cat Rudi 🙂
All those who dig in daily to make this life meaningful and rewarding for both themselves and others.
I am thankful for my husband, who has been a loving presence in my life for 34 years! For my friends and family, without whom I would not be who I am today.
I am grateful for Racel here who wrote that she is grateful for those who allow her to serve them. As a nurse and an End of Life Doula, I am so grateful for those who allow me to serve. It is an immense joy and an honor.
You made me smile Nancy. Keep doing what you are doing…i am grateful for you!
Everyone who crosses my path. For each one teaches me either how or how not to behave!
I’m truly thankful to Buddha whose teachings have helped me to become a better person every day. I’m truly thankful to my wife to encouraged me to face my fears, my kids who love me dearly.
My husband, both for who he is as my life partner and love of my life and right now especially for his caregiving as I deal with a broken wrist.
My 2 daughters, who have grown into wonderful women.
My stepchildren, also grown into wonderful adults and who accepted me as a person in their dad’s life and in theirs all those years ago.
My friends who make sure we stay connected through text and voice messages at times we can’t see each other, especially my best friend who lives hundreds of miles away and whom I get to see only occasionally but who is part of my life.
My colleagues who work so hard to make a difference and who support each other as a team.
The many many people who labor so that I have hot coffee in my cup, electricity that heated that water, everything it took to grow those beans and bring them to this country and put them on the shelf at the grocery store.
The many maintainers who keep things running and working through difficult times and broken supply chains and all the rest.
The people who act and speak and march and rise up to work for a better world for everyone.
Thinking about this question I came up with a very long list of people I’m thankful for. And then I thought of myself. I am thankful for myself, I thought. Should I put this out there? Yes, I’ll take that plunge. I am thankful for myself. My body is functioning in complex and wonderous ways with an ability to protect and heal itself. My mind can do so many things. I have been given gifts in many forms that I can use in many ways. I’m just a whole package. And I’m thankful for every part of it. Being an agnostic, I do not rule out the possibility that those thanks should go not to myself but to my maker but for the time being it stays with me. 🙂
Thank you, dragonfly – oneself – that’s a great person to be thankful for. 🙂
Agnosticism makes sense – how can we Know what is or isn’t there, in all of space and time?
I am thankful for my family, friends, communities i have joined and for anyone that pours into me.
I am thankful for those that encourage me
, love me, speak truth to me no matter how uncomfortable it maybe. I am thankful for the people who brings laughter and sit with me when i am sad.
I am thankful for those who let me serve them and give me space in thier life.
I am thankful for my Mom who i had physically for 48 years and who i still feel eventhough she has transitioned.
I am thankful to the person who posed this question and allowed me to reflect.
I am grateful for having such a great doctor. So glad that I got a doctors note so I can take the time to heal from covid before working again.
I can relate I found an amazing surgeon who took care of me for a total hip replacement 4 weeks ago. The best i have felt in years!
Having a great doctor is a gift often underrated. I took my fabulous doctor for granted till I did not have him anymore and saw the difference.
I am so grateful for my children. Of all people- present, future or past- I choose them. I must be so loved to be given such a precious and perfect gift.
Right now, in this moment, I’m thankful for Elena, Marty, the two Dave’s, Max, and my sister Sarah. In my life, there have been so many people that have allowed me to be part of something. For that, I am thankful.
hmm- of late it seems that I am thankful for the person’s choices to expand their capacities for spiritual evolution guiding their values, beliefs and hence their actions and speech. It is more of a challenge to be thankful a person’s choices when the values and beliefs are serving to entrench greed, hatred and are self serving, resulting in increased suffering.
For everyone who is trying harder to be better, do better, and love better. 💛💜💙
I am thankful for my three nieces. I am flying from RI to Michigan this weekend to visit. They are so full of JOY, and I have great nieces and nephews from age 6-17. It’s a gift to be in their world for a few days.
My husband, cat and dog.
My parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and all the extended family.
My friends at work. We lean on each other and make each other laugh when needed.
So many along my path who helped me grow and be a better me, most of whom will never realize it.
I’m chuckling. There are too many people to name! From the parents in blessed to come from, to the spouse I’m blessed to have found, the 3 spiritual teachers, the children who can’t through me, the children my husband adopted, the besties, the animal companions, and the houseplants (yes, they’re people). I am supremely abundant. I even have a work soulmate. This has made me want to reach out to a friend I’ve lost touch with and say, “I appreciate you”.
I am thankful for my partner who met me 23 years ago. For her willingness to see the good in me inspite of my own personal struggles which affected our relationship. For seeing the changes that I’ve made and for me accepting her changes and who she has become.
Blessed are the Peacemakers … my first response.
And I am thankful for all of you here and align with your thoughtful, heartfelt words/realizations. I was thinking “yes!” and “me too” all the way down the page.
I am thankful for my wife, children, friends, the people who keep this site running for all of us. I am thankful for the vegetable garden, the meadows I irrigate and cut for hay and the animals I feed with it. I am thankful for the good fortune I have had in life. I am thankful for the hard times, they make the good times so much more. I am thankful that I am sober.
My kids, family, boss, the unseen who stock grocery shelves, sort mail, keep the power on, all of you who post here and those behind the scenes who keep the site running. It makes a real difference in my day.
I’m thankful for my inner place that helps me to find peace, for the food I eat, the people I share my journey with and the possibilities that every morning starts again.
I am truly thankful for all.
For starters, my wife, my family, our home, our security, and our dog, Gracie.
My church community, and of course, my family and friends. And this site, to be able to share and reflect and to be grateful!
For the person I’ve become/becoming. She loves, supports, and challenges me.
Good to “see” you again, Dusty Su!
Thank you. Good to be back. I’m in Australia so better time zone for daily questions.
my family, pets, friends, work, this website, nature.
I’m thankful for everyone. I am grateful for all the helpful people who assist us in our everyday lives! It’s amazing to think about how many people we don’t even know help us to survive! Thank you !
I pause, like many around the world, to give thanks for the life of Queen Elizabeth II. I do not know the full historical depth of the institutional domination of the Monarchy. However, what I’ve witnessed is her fidelity to being a public servant to her people, her children/ family, and Phillip. RIP, Woman of Faith and a steadfast leader exemplifying a Grace filled style.
I am thankfull for every loving person 💛
May there be more of them.
Me too xxx
