My guy is loving, patient, kind and supportive, we also sing, dance and laugh together. I can be a silly goose with him. My sister who is genuinely the sweetest most decent kind person in the world, also very sassy. My mentor and friend of 33.6 years. Each living our own lives and with time and geography taking us on different journeys, we stay in touch and our paths cross. She is an honest and direct person, I can get real with her in an instant.

My mum, dad and partner. They are always there for me, day or night. They encourage me to leave my comfort zone, take the leap, reassure me when I feel unsure or anxious, celebrate my successes, listen to and empathesise with me. I wouldn’t be where I am without them! I love them to pieces

I have a husband who supports me no matter what. All my wonderful friends are a blessing to me, as is my family of origin. Until my retirement, I loved working with college students, whose challenges and commitment inspired me to be my highest and best self every day. I know I am fortunate, and I try in turn to support all of them.

My husband, my best friend and my father. Mostly they are there with and for me in a patient, consistent, reliable, loving, accepting and understanding way. They also push back and tell me what I need to hear in an honest and direct way, for the most part! 🙂

The two people I connect with most are my parents. They support me to be my best self by giving me grace when I am less than perfect in my endeavors. Rather than encouraging me to give up, they encourage me to learn from my mistakes and find ways to improve in the future.

Actually my 2 daughters. They encourage and support in many ways, one from across the country most of the time. I much appreciate their wisdom, humor, and creative approaches and problem solving ideas. They are a blessing in my life and in the world.

There are simply not enough words to describe the support I get from my Power Corner: my 3 best friends. We met at the gym. Through countless workouts, we developed our own “inside” jokes and favorite moves. We dressed up for holidays and even just because we wanted to (crazy sock day! Aloha day!) Our friendship is too great for one space and so it extends to trips, to dinners, to slumber parties. When any of us is involved in a community activity (1st 5k, charity event, work project) we all show up. Of course there are tears shared but not nearly as much as we share laughter. They are my chosen family and gratefully, integrate so beautifully with the loving family I was born into. I am never alone (even as I navigate through widowhood) because I’m always in the Power Corner!

My partner reminds me to be humble and caring. My mentor teaches me to resilience and leadership. My best friend reminds me to relax and laugh.

My husband, my boss, my children –
My husband – listens and supports and pushes and questions and puts thins in perspective….
My boss gives me opportunities for me to grow….
My children push me to think outside of the box and to let go of my expectations….the latter which is way harder than the former 🙂

My husband, mom and dad are my biggest supporters, and I have a very special connection with each of them. My parents have always pushed me to be my best self, even when I didn’t realize it (like back in my teen years). And my husband being the chef/entrepreneur/go-getter that he is has done nothing but encourage and lift me up since our relationship started. He sees the best in me and wants the best for me. He has mentioned over the past couple of years that I should be a yoga teacher. He knows my love and dedication to the practice. Yesterday, I did some research, and ended up signing up for an online Yoga Teacher Training course! It’s self-paced, so I can still work my full time job and be able to get through the material and requirements without worry of a deadline. I can’t believe I’m actually doing it after thinking about it for years! And I’m not sure I ever would have had my husband not been gently pushing me towards it.
