By being a good listener to the people I encounter. AND hopefully by finishing my MA in clinical psychology! Still a long way to go but I’ll do my very best to get to the goal.

The cares of the world are bigger than I am, so I would have to be content to start small. Pick one mission, write one letter, make one phone call, send one check; spend one hour a month working on someone else’s behalf with one’s hands and/or one’s mind. Then if the mission is right, maybe work up to one hour per week. – Don’t expect to set the entire world on fire, just try to strike a match in my specific corner of it. And if I can learn to be faithful in that one small thing, expect God to open a door to a bigger thing.

Taking part in the pain of others, especially the people I know. Beginning in small steps, for example by asking relatives about them, and greeting them, or trying to actively listen when they talk about their suffering.
Trying to smile, or to joke, even when i am not in the mood, as the world needs kindness.

For the moment being, it most probably would not make much sense to do more, rather to find ways to intensify quality as well as continuity and in the same time to let go of “I” presence when caring for what or who is calling in a given moment, so meditation practice and prayer is more in the foreground, as well as listening with a soft heart to all.

Prayer is more in the foreground
I love this, Ose, thank you.

Being present and aware in every moment, doing what I can where I can with what I have, bearing witness — sharing reverence and the beauty that surrounds me. Listening with my heart as well as my brain to the joys and pains of any voice, with compassion, love, and patience.

The whole universe needs my care – because you see… I cannot live apart from this planet. This planet cannot live apart from its sun and solar system. The solar system cannot live apart from its galaxy. The galaxy cannot live apart from the super cluster. The super cluster cannot live apart from … and so on into eternity and infinity. And finally I come to the fact that all of creation cannot live apart from the creator. How can I offer myself? Yield, yield completely to all of creation and my creator. If that yielding makes a hardly perceptible change in a far distant galaxy that tips the first domino, then it is done for all creation and thus the world. So I sit still, in silence and yield to all creation. The care begins…

I’d be happy just to offer myself more fully to the cares of my younger granddaughter, but I don’t know how 😌

How old is she? Take her for English High tea – I loved doing that with my daughters and my mom.

Thanks, Michele, that’s a nice thought – she’s 11, and her parents do that sort of things with their girls.

I could figure out how to manage our stray cat population by trapping and finding homes for the kittens and having the adults who are too feral spayed and neutered.

Today is Orange Shirt Day now known as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada – a national day to commemorate the dark and racist legacy of “Indian” residential schools and commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.
I’m wearing my orange shirt, recommitting to learning and listening, on the path of recognizing misplaced settler superiority and becoming an ever more honourable ally.

By letting people know that not every day has to be a good day! By listening to those in need and being compassionate. I have realized that I don’t know the full story of the man or woman next to me, what lies beneath the surface of these people? Why is that woman crying in her car or that war veteran in a wheelchair. For me, I can show my care to the world by being sensitive to other peoples situations. I can try to wave down that woman in her car and ask her what I can do for her, even if it is just a simple prayer. I can ask that Vet if he needs any help with his groceries. I believe that these small things can make all the difference in the energy that I put out into the world.

I agree Mary Pat! The quote from Elie Wiesel Kevin remembered is perfect.

I shall start with myself… compassion, forgiveness, joy, grateful living.
