Oddly enough, I need a command from Jesus to get curious and stay curious: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Otherwise, I’m far too content to stay in my own head, preoccupied with my disengaged and ungrounded speculations about the world and the people in it. The command, at least, gives me a goal toward which which I might apply myself, and the impetus to gather the information required to pursue it.

Following my curiosity is a feed back loop for me. Curiosity is my constant companion because I’ve followed it so many times and grown as result. I try lots of things and go down many rabbit holes. I hope on my death bed (if I’m fortunate to have one) that my companion is still there right when I shed this mortal coil an event itself that is a pretty curious one I have to admit.

Not wanting to die wondering. Looking at the words on the screen, they are so flat. It is about the agonizing burning to know the full depth and dimension of this happening. And oh, the paradoxes… the desperate loneliness yet all inclusiveness at the same time, the not needing anything, yet still wanting. Those whispers at the edge of my hearing and glimpses at the periphery of my vision, the deafening noise of the quiet. The taps on the shoulder in the still of night. What is this all about? Haha.

I am confused about this question. I don’t consider gaps in curiosity. It’s a life time quality. I do get sidetracked sometimes into anger when it might be better to be curious instead.

I read much less of the news online now, and I read interesting articles and look at websites that teach me new things.

    so-called “Modern Humans”

To-days ‘Word of the Day’ is a good working example

The truth is rarely pure and never simple.
    OSCAR WILDE

How PRAY TELL please Oscar! ….could Truth not be “pure and never simple”.

The reason for such a statement can only be…..it is seen through the eyes of a very confused intellect. Living proof that so-called “Modern Man” is caught up in Intellectual ego-ism and lives, at best, 10% consciously and 90% sub-consciously ( meaning they have very little awareness of what is going on in the environment around them and even less, how they are directly influencing that environment.

To paraphrase an often quoted statement of a First Nations leader one Hundred years ago, “We don’t understand what you white people what …….but we certainly see the fear in yours eyes”

I have to respectfully disagree with you there Toni, I worked in the field of Consulting Engineering which was tasked with applying Environmental improvement projects BUT we were are Hand tied by Regulations that hindered getting what needed to be done thanks to “good intensions” of “Environmentalist organization”. The young person * or rather the organization around her which is collection Large sums of $ using her as a mascot ) was caught red handed last year when they posted a picture of her sitting on her luggage while returning to Sweden on the German Railways system. The Railway responded by asking, “why are you pretending to be poor …when you and your entourage have “First Class” tickets” ? They never replied.

If there is anything “good” coming out of the COVID-19 global experience it is ……What the Media and Politicians present is always distorted to suit their understanding and personal objectives ….the Truth is ….that seldom improves the situation. if there is Good to occur it must come first and foremost from Right Observation and Right Intension and Right action of EACH individual …not a “good intensions” of inept organizations

The desire for learning – learning about the world, myself, Ultimate Reality, relationships, and so much more. I think when you stop wanting to learn, you stop being curious.

I think I was born inquisitive… Interested in things, but then that interest was fed by a great-grandmother with whom we lived. I sat in my little chair next to hers as she told me stories and took me on verbal trips, describing what we were seeing. The “big” trip was going to Idaho (!) which was about the farthest she had traveled herself…. From then on, I always loved maps and traveling and learning about people and places.
