100-Day Gratitude Challenge
Day 94: Choose Your Trail Angels
The Countdown Continues: 10, 9, 8, 7…
Reflect
For backpackers doing long hikes through challenging terrain, unexpected help and nourishment sometimes arrive from an informal network of people known as trail angels. These are generous individuals who provide rides, meals, shelter, or just a pair of fresh socks! The best trail angels are the ones who offer support and guidance that align with the hiker’s goals and dreams. The same is true for our lives. If we want to live gratefully, we need trail angels who can help us along the way — those mentors and friends who understand our desired way of living and can be sources of encouragement, inspiration, and re-orientation when we hit a rough patch or lose our way. No path is easily traveled alone, and the good news is that we don’t have to. As you envision the way you want your life to unfold in the days and years ahead, what kinds of support do you need from trail angels?
Practice
As you extend your gratefulness practice beyond the 100-Day Challenge, who are the 2-3 individuals you consider to be trusted sources of guidance, soul nourishment, and a bit of joy and play? Your trail angels might include friends, family members, or famous people whose writing or life’s work is an essential companion to you on your journey. Name these people, and turn to them when you need light on the trail.
