100-Day Gratitude Challenge
Day 99: Invite a Revolution of the Heart
The Countdown Continues: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2…
Reflect
“The greatest challenge of the day is: how to bring about a revolution of the heart, a revolution which has to start with each one of us.” These are the powerful words of Dorothy Day in 1959. This call for a revolution of the heart has been articulated across cultures and time, and it remains vitally relevant for us today. It is what the fractured world needs: a change of heart, an expansion of heart, a breaking open of the heart. This kind of transformation begins to take place — first individually, then collectively — when we slow down enough to really see one another, when we develop the spiritual musculature to face difficulty and struggle, when we remain open to possibility we can’t yet see, and when we let ourselves be overjoyed by the wonder of it all. If all of this sounds familiar, it is; these are the essential components of a grateful life. You now have the tools to invite a revolution of the heart, in yourself and in those around you.
