Day 95: Ritualize Your Practice

The Countdown Continues: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6…

Reflect

Give your daily gratefulness practice a boost by turning it into a ritual that you enjoy and look forward to, something that allows you to slow down and make space for focus and contemplation. Practices and rituals are closely connected, but rituals are imbued with additional meaning, symbolism, and even a sense of the sacred. They evoke our reverence. This doesn’t have to be complicated or heavy — you can have a joyful, playful ritual! But it is an opportunity to create consecrated time for your practice. Pause what you’re doing, take a few centering breaths, rest your mind. Sit in the same place, use a journal you love, pour your tea in a favorite cup. Choose the components that work for you. You can do this daily, weekly, or whenever you need a reset. Practicing is ideally embodied throughout your day, but a small ritual can provide an underlying architecture to build on.

Practice

Spend some time answering the following questions: What kind of simple ritual would support your gratefulness practice? Is it something you want to do each day or on the occasions you need help reorienting to your path? Do you want to do this ritual on your own or include someone else? The goal here is to amplify your practice through ritual. Be creative, see what works, and leave the door open for the unexpected.
