I was in a funk yesterday so this question is a happy reminder.
My children bring me joy. I could stop there b/c that is enough to make me smile. But building a list to make the smile grow. My dog and memories of every pet I’ve ever had find me brings me joy. A good book, time at the beach or in nature, laughing with friends, all bring me joy.
My guitar.
It is a thirty or more years old Fender acoustic 12 string dreadnought sized instrument.
I picked it up one day in 2022 or so, and after dusting it off, cleaning the finish and the fretboard, getting it restrung, and having the action adjusted by a professional, started playing (again).
I still had some music, including many hand written lyrics with chords in a loose leaf binder I had started collecting while in college. I also had some photocopies of songs with lyrics, and some books and lyrics that I had purchased.
So, now I play every day for one to one and a half hours. … For me …
I have learned some new chords, and some new finger positions, and yes I do sing, sometimes on key , often out of my range and off key.
But …
It is joy for me…
Nick, I’m with you on the flow state. Many people preach balance, but I go with nature. Nature flows. Balance feels forced. Nature eventually balances everything out.

Love this
There’s too many to list off, because there’s always something that comes up to keep me going.
Smiling at your answer
Gratitude itself, guitar practice, physical activity, music, nutritious meals, the flow state
