Environmentalism and cycling I guess. I am trying my hardest not to have to buy a car to return to working in healthcare, but it’s looking more and more like I will have to do that. I’m not a “team player” so I am afraid I will get pushed out of long term care and pulled into home visiting.
It looks so easy,
but is not . . .
the practice of tai chi.
I learned the basics many years ago,
but my youthful body
was too restless and impatient
to take the time to fully appreciate
either its worth or its beauty.
Yoga
filled that need for balance
between movement and stillness
for many years,
but now
tai chi
is calling out to me
once again.
Watching it in motion
is mesmerizing,
but practicing it
is an act of intention and balance . . .
a dance
between body and soul.
I could just follow along with the motions,
but applying myself
is where the heart becomes involved
and connects me with the energy of the Universe . . .
slow and easy
and fully involved.
I am a tiger washing my face,
a crane spreading my wings.
I cannot return to this practice
like a new year’s resolution
or I will fail,
so I will let my body simply lead me into it
without a goal,
and focus only on the journey,
for that is where the power dwells. ♥
Core value and practice of meditation needs intensifying, which currently is low while being visiting my father or while being occupied with strong physixal pain and distress which needs my attention, in the same time also moving my working place, concerns of how all will work out after a crash down took most of my energy to handle it all. Hopefully when I am back home, I can fully turn to meditatiaon again and would like to add evening meditation also. And what fell silent while having been in this external need of caring for my physical and emotional condition was playing music, which I really hope to be able to turn to regularly when i am back home. Wishing you a good day all.
I’m really good at my daily walk. I seldom miss it but I often fail to do the exercises that support it. This may not sound like a spiritual practice but for me it is. At my age, it is important that I pay attention to and fully support my body for it is my spiritual home. It is the place and the space from which all my practices originate. It is the place where I plant the seeds of willingness and nurture them.
Of course it is a spiritual practice,
dear Carol Ann . . .
it just isn’t couched in those terms
in the Western world,
especially if you do this
as it was intended.
I have found that just going through the motions
doesn’t call upon either the body
or the mind
to fully engage,
but when we do
it makes all the difference in the world.
I applaud your discipline of the daily walk,
whether you do it every day
or not. ♥
Sparrow, I seldom miss a day walking but do wish I was more disciplined about the exercises and I agree with you about not just going through the motions. It’s important to be truly present to the practice. 🙂
I would like to recommit to nourishing my inventions. I get started on something, and then “real” paying work diverts me, and I get scared to plop back into my current invention. It does take courage to put something new out into the world without a clue of whether anyone will find it useful. But I want to recommit and take this latest one out to user testing, it’s almost there.
I would like to recommit attending church services. I appreciate the talks about compassion and Christlike living. I didn’t attend all summer and I miss it.
I used to create lots of opportunities to get my girlfriends together to play. It seems that is more challenging to do than it used to be. Lives are more complex with grandchildren, aging, changing interests, and perhaps lack of interest. I would like to try and re-ignite these gatherings, I think. Notice the “I think”. Not only were these gatherings fun, I also learned a lot. And created great memories, deepened relationships. I am meeting a friend for coffee Friday morning, maybe this is the place to start the conversation. 🧡
Acceptance of what’s coming up in the present moment and the trust that I am able to let go.
I have a habit that I would like to let go of and it’s not Trusting this moment. It’s often that I feel the need to do something or have something. It’s a very subtle feeling of dis-ease.
It’s a luxury to have time to look- pray deeply and let go.
I am not sure. To recommit, I must have forsaken a core value or practice. I did give up imbibing alcohol, and I did practice drinking daily. I guess one could say, I recommitted to the practice of sobriety. I had never thought of sobriety as a core value or practice, but since working out this question on a keyboard in the light of gratefulness, I think it is. For me at least. Thank you for the brain practice this early fall morn.
Peace, Love & Light.
However you got here,
dear Joseph,
you’re here.
I think you already recommit to sobriety every day
and send a kiss to heaven
in thanksgiving
for what you have
and where you are in your life now..
Keep on keepin’ on.
You’re doing great. ♥
I thought of you dear Sparrow today. I was checking/mending fence in the 15-acre pasture on the south side of the river, ahead of putting some animals in there before the end of the month. Chuck Pyle’s song Endless Sky and the first line of the chorus came to mind; “Give me a fence to mend and a river bend”. Thank you for the link to that song sometime back. As the Rifle Man’s son told him, I’m not looking back, I’m remembering back. It was a good fall day mendin’ fence, overlooking the river.
Self truth/trust- the last few days I’ve been struggling. Months ago I made a decision to end a relationship and that was the right choice but life circumstances has kept everything in limbo. I am currently taking action to get things moving.
I love my job but my office manager is a toxic personality and for months it’s been directed at me- we sit beside each other.
My plan was to work there until making life changes and move closer to my mom who is turning 80. She lives closer to my sister, and three of her grandkids including one of mine in college.
Long story short I look at rent, and all the moving parts and I just don’t know what to do. My self truth and trust has deflated. I know I want to get from point A to B and I had faith it was going to happen. I didn’t need to know how but now…. There is so much self doubt and lack of trust.
I keep trying to focus on being grateful and faith but God hasn’t thrown the towel back at me yet and told me to get going.
Dear Deann,
Trust the process, trust your gut. Take 1 small step & another. Eventually the bigger picture will become clearer. You don’t need all the answers as you begin the process. Just start…the answers & the way will come.
Surrender.
Believe in You. ❤️
This is my humble advice from having gone thru something similar. I wish you all the best & strength to do the hard things.
🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing, Deann. Not a wallow at all, I think all of us can relate. If you have a toxic office manager sitting next to you and focused on you, that has got to be incredibly draining. I’m sure the gears of life are turning in the right direction, though, even if slowly. I hope you get a lot of rest and recovery after the workweek, and hang in there. Things will change on their own timeline.
Believe me,
dear Deann . . .
I know from whence you come . . .
it sounds like the thinking and planning
are basically done,
and the next step is action–
actually making those big changes you’ve been dreaming about.
What has helped me
is just doing it.
Get started.
Take a step and then another.
Get the ball rolling.
If I plan things out too much
so many reasons crop up
that what I want to do
is impossible.
I needed to leave an abusive relationship.
Everything was ready . . .
my window of opportunity had opened.
I was suddenly thrust into a moment of truth.
Decide.
Stay or go.
I took a deep breath
and shut out all of the voices of fear and self doubt,
closed my eyes
and took the leap.
From there
the Universe me
and everything fell into place.
You can do this. ♥
You are courageous to share your wallow, Deann. Just as you will be courageous when your intentions become your reality, or a new insight will become your reality. May your mind and heart continue to be open.🧡

I think learning in general some new things . I have attended a couple of Master gardening sessions at our local library recently and enjoyed them.

Letting your body lead you to it … yes, I relate so much to this.
🙏
” . . . focus only on the journey, for that is where the power dwells.” 🙏
It’s true,
dear Joseph,
isn’t it?
Sometimes
i surprise myself. 🙂
I think practicing self love and spiritual cleanses again.

The practice that I have really let slip, is meditation.
I will start b doing a 10min meditation right now.
Yoga. Would like to get back into that.
