Grateful Living Seeking Board Members

As we embark on our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, we are seeking candidates to join our growing board of directors and support our organizational impact.

About

We are a global nonprofit organization that was founded in 1969 to empower people to live meaningful lives through the transformative practice of grateful living. Our evidence-based programs, educational workshops and courses, retreats, and the life-enriching content on our website are designed to support daily life and connection during times of joy and adversity.

The Grateful Living Board of Directors comprises mission-driven, ambitious, and innovative leaders across sectors and disciplines. This group is charged with the oversight of our governance, financial stewardship, and strategic growth.

As we fulfill our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, we are seeking candidates to join our growing team and support our organizational impact.

What’s Ahead for Grateful Living

By 2027 we will:

  1. Increase our community from 125,000 to 250,000.
  2. Be financially sustainable with a cash reserve and more resources to grow the team and programs.
  3. We will expand our local, national, and global programs to meet the needs of those yearning for connection, meaning, and purpose through partnerships and content development.

The Organizational Opportunity:

We are working to answer the following questions:

  1. How do we sustainably grow an international movement and become a go-to resource like mindfulness?
  2. How do we build effective partnerships within the wellness and spirituality marketplace that:
    • Amplify our work as experts on gratefulness/gratitude
    • Grow our audience/community
    • Ensure our financial health and future opportunities
    • Reach those who could benefit from our programs


The Opportunity to Serve

The Board of Directors

This leadership role is responsible for supporting the CEO and the organization with both organizational governance and strategies to advance its mission. This is a three-year term. Board members are expected to:

  1. Meet quarterly
  2. Be engaged through participation on a committee each month
  3. Make a meaningful donation or support solicitation to obtain funds, partnerships, or opportunities that materialize resources.

Our Process

If you are interested, you are encouraged to apply before November 10, 2024. 

  1. On November 10, we will begin reviewing all applications and reach out to candidates who we believe can help us meet our goals. 
  2. Following preliminary conversations, final candidates will be presented to the Nominating Committee for an interview.
  3. Top candidates will go before the board for a vote before January 1, 2025.
