Pathway Overview
Delivered as a 5-day series of emails, our Pathways provide guidance, inspiration, and practices to help you cultivate a more grateful life. They are self-paced and yours to keep. Each day includes an introduction, inspiring resources, daily practice, reflection prompts, and supporting research.
An intentional gratefulness practice is essential for opening to greater joy in your life. Joy and gratefulness have a reciprocal relationship, each yielding an increase in the other. With practice, you can tap the wellspring of joy both within and around you.
Joy can exist amidst sorrow and be nurtured as an abiding emotional state, untethered from specific experiences or events. You don’t have to wait for everything to be just right to experience joy. Through the practice of gratefulness, you can attune to the notes of both joy and sorrow.
Creating and participating in shared experiences of joy nurtures connection and a sense of belonging. It builds bridges between individuals and across cultures. You can choose to bring joy to your daily interactions, and you may find that your well of joy is replenished in kind.
Left unchecked, our very human fears and vulnerabilities become barriers to joy. Unconditional gratefulness — gratefulness that’s not waiting on a perfect future that will never arrive — allows you to reframe your fears and lean into joy.
When you’re attuned to the joy the world offers, it becomes the fuel that enables you to act on behalf of what you value. Gratefulness is completed in this action, this gesture of care for the world around you. In turn, your contribution to the collective good refills your wellspring of joy.
