Quite often, when I see the suffering and destruction of our poor world, I nearly despair. And yet, spring bursting forth these days with such elemental power gives me new courage.

Let me admit it, dear friends:

Quite often, when I see the suffering and destruction of our poor world, I nearly despair. And yet, spring bursting forth these days with such elemental power gives me new courage.

A single forsythia bush against the blue sky is enough to convince me that life is more powerful than death. And in the Easter liturgy we celebrate on an even deeper level that same power stirring within each one of us.

May we let it flow through us into the whole world. I trust that it is strong enough to heal every wound and to fill all that is dead with new life.

Your brother David

Peace Prayer with Br. David Steindl-Rast

Together with our international partners Dankbar Leben and Vivir Agradecidos, we invite you to join us in a daily pause for peace now through July 12. Let this recent recording of Br. David Steindl-Rast reading the peace prayer of Europakloster Gut Aich be your call to take one minute each day to stop, be present, and consciously hold peace and reconciliation in your heart. This small gesture can become something much bigger.
