Some well needed R & R on the sailboat and that is my plan for tomorrow night. Will be staying on a mooring in the harbor overnight in Bristol RI. One of my favorite historical small towns (established in 1785), they host a week long celebration during the forth of July.
This is a wonderful question. If we pay attention, our bodies always tell us what they need. I have paid attention to this for all my adult life, sometimes contrary to doctors’ advice, and as y’all know, I’m 90 and still functioning pretty well.
I had to laugh, though. I am old, I am on a diuretic, and I have been sitting at my computer for over an hour so three guesses what my body’s most urgent need is.
Not exactly “at this moment” but this morning my husband and I were starting a new supplement (amino acids) and figuring out how and when best to take it.
Over the longer term, the usual – good food, exercise, supplements and/or meds as needed, good friends (including four-legged ones), and good genes.
It’s asking me to go to bed earlier tonight so I won’t feel this way tomorrow morning as I start my weekend. Our cat has taken to waking me up around 5 or 5:30 by parading through the house meowing. He has a beautiful purr-like trilling meow but it is Not Beautiful when I’d like to sleep another hour.
PKR, I’m with you on quiet time and meditation. It’s easier to focus. Shunryu Suzuki also talked about clearing our minds and concentrating on one thing at a time in “Zen Mind; Beginner’s Mind.”
As usual, it’s asking (pleading) for more
movement and exercise. More regular
physical activity. It’s also what my mental
health is asking for. This week has been
better than most. As I’ve been fairly active.
One thing that I have done, is pretty
regular stretching/yoga. I have a regular
routine that I have put together over
the years, and it’s really helped.
Charlie, routine helps with stability. I’m continuing to work on consistency with my bedtime routine. Inconsistencies there is common in younger people. Staying up late for bigger pleasures and waking up late or sleeping the day away is quite commonplace, especially these days. Our bodies are programmed to sleep at night and stay awake during the day. I’m at my best when I go to sleep within the 30-minute framework of 10-10:30pm and wake up 6-6:30am. I normally answer the daily grateful living question the first thing I do as I wake up. Therefore, everyone here will probably know my wake up time and gain a better idea on my sleeping habits.
A smile!! That is what is calling to my body and as I read all your responses that is what happens…Thank you!! So Michele…I got it! National Smile Day and I will be sure to continue…All is well when you smile. and have tea!!!!
Previously, I used to have my coffee before sitting in front of a computer and listening to the daily Gospel reflection. Then, I realized it was too relaxing, as I sipped my coffee and listened to the Gospel in the same way one listens to music. Recently, I made a change. The first thing I do after waking up and grooming is focusing on the Gospel without coffee. Then, I bring my coffee cup upstairs, enjoy it, and answer the daily question on this site. This morning, I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I’m craving it right now! I’m truly joyful for many of you, my coffee buddies, who share this experience with me. 🙂
My Ngoc, even if I’m not a coffee drinker, I’ve been a pleasure seeker before, so I totally get the feeling. Coffee will certainly do that. Worldly pleasures have a way of taking us away from concentrating on whatever’s right in front of us.
As someone who values comfort, being relaxed has a way of enhancing pleasure. I’m all too familiar with that in meditation. Based on my understanding of “Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind”, Soothing Pod is a better fit for the Average Joes. Nothing replaces the silent meditation.
For Soothing Pod, the lady’s voice is very gentle and sweet. This gives me room to sit in the comfortable beanbag or rocking chair and increases the temptation to wander off or even fall asleep. This is good for the night time. Meditation in silence gives me less margin for error. It pushes me to clear my mind, sit in a proper position crossing my legs, use good posture, relax my hands on my lap, and concentrate even more on my breath. The mind will still wander at times, but I’d have to bring it back to my breath quicker. Quickly and gently can certainly be done.

Rest, enough sleep tonight and more of meditation.

A nice morning jog on the beach!

Thank heavens for the hot bean water!
I have my daughter’s cat and I can relate, just about 4:30 a.m lately he has been such a pest as soon as it starts to get light out here.
Barb, I sleep better with silence. I can totally imagine how difficult it is to sleep with all that background noise.
Coffee & quiet time with prayer & meditation.
Peace……..🙏🏻✨☕️

My body has everything it needs in the moment. All I need to do is to take care of it like I’m doing now.

Nannette, a smile goes a long ways in helping the mind which in turn, helps the body. Therefore, I see where you’re going.
Yoga followed by a hot shower.
More coffee and then perhaps a stretch.
Rest, healing, buddies to talk with, warmth, hope, and faith.
I hope you’re doing well after the surgery, Yram.
YRAM, Just reading your response is healing to me….Thank you.
Balance, variety, awareness, appreciation.

I figured quite a few of us would have “Coffee!!” in our answers. I’m fulfilling that craving as I type.
Ah, yes. the elixir of the Gods.
