To wake up each morning with the intention to make everyone I encounter that day feel valued by looking at them and speaking with kindness and respect.

My favorite one is letting people go in front of me at the grocery line when they have fewer items than I do. I was able to do this today. They are always so surprised and happy, and so am I!

Being present and an active listener throughout the day in every interaction I have with my family and work peers.

I am kind to everyone that I encounter and open to randomness every day. I love helping people when there is a need that I can fill. Holding a door, helping to carry groceries, checking in on my neighbors, texting friends out of the blue, just to say hi and see how they’re doing. This really is what I live for. Those seemingly random encounters.

I have already committed to some acts of kindness today. I reached out to a friend about having lunch. I have another friend who is recovering from surgery, and I arranged to bring them dinner on Friday. I want to look closer to home and do something special for my partner today. Perhaps ice cream for the heatwave we are enduring at the moment?

Yes! great idea – I can surprise my family by bringing back a milkshake!
Well now that I planned this I suppose it isn’t random, but mom will enjoy the milkshake!

Not only today, but every day – and not only kindness, but loving kindness. It will be whatever seems appropriate in that moment.

Since I don’t know what the afternoon will bring, my intention will be to be open to the possibility of performing a random act.

I can send a nice note to a friend and let them know I wish them well. I can call my mom and ask her how she is . And call each one of my three boys! That’s a start!

My reflection on this question is that I should rather embed kindness in all my acts, thoughts and areas of concern and work, rather than randomly inviting kindness in here and there. Kindness ideally finds residence within me.

hmm– my first thought was– what is kindness? The second– I will need to be mindful of what may present as opportunity. The third thought: Is kindness the intention to act in the care of the well being of the person in front of me ? The fourth–commitment- Can I be confident in myself to be mindful of this as I go through my day? The fifth– ok, why not give it a try, see what happens.

Random is synonymous with spontaneous or unplanned. I’ll use this question as a prompt to allow myself to be open to the opportunity. But, if I declare it before I do it it’s not random, lol. I’ll do a second reflection later.

My aging parents needed help with a broken window. It was great to visit, help, and laugh with them!

Right? If it’s planned, t’s not random! Hope the opportunity arose for something kind… I’m sure it did 🙂

I’m usually not one to critique this site’s daily question. This one seems oddly phrased. “Will I commit…” seems more of an appropriate question. To project what might my action be, takes me out of the now of this moment. At 5:55 CST, I don’t know who’ll cross my path. I know the Divine will present an opportunity.

I will just be kind and open-hearted towards everyone who crosses my path today, as I am every day unless someone shows me that I need to protect myself from them. If then something arises where I can give more then I will 😊
