    Hmmm, this is getting deep🥹
Well – I am not sure…do I define aliveness by my feelings- I feel alive when…
Or by my consciousness…I know I am alive when…
Or maybe it is the ruah-the breath- in my soul that animates me???

I’m not sure I can define Aliveness but I feel most alive when music is involved. I loved singing for others in the church and the saloon, in the New Orleans concert choir and the church choir. I sang weddings, I sang funerals, appeared in community theatre musicals. These days I love to go to concerts and play CDs at home.

      You make me think,
      dear Carol Ann,
of someone who used to be on the Gratefulness team . . .
      she loved to sing too,
and passed the impulse on to her sons. ♥

Like others, the word to me expresses a feeling that extends into and comes from every atom in the body, energy expressing itself, full awareness of self as part of the whole, whole as holding the self, interbeing as Thich Nhat Hanh might say.

Interbeing … I like that. I want to read up now on what Thich Nhat Hanh wrote about interbeing, I hadn’t heard of it before.

    Anything that evokes
    is alive . . .
    the stone is alive,
    cold from the snow,
    wet from the rain,
    warm from the sun.
Stretching out on the summer stone
I feel alive from the heat emanating from its surface,
    warming my flesh . . .
I might smell the salt of the sea on it
or the organic fragrance of moss in the forest . . .
    I feel something.
The stone has evoked a feeling in me,
    a kinship, even.
I am alive and I feel the age and the wisdom in this stone.
    It is alive for me.
    This Earth
    is our playground,
    our classroom,
    our prison,
    and our salvation.

    That being said,
    I believe
that even the dead are alive . . .
    just in a different way.
We all imagine how that might be,
    but no one of us
    truly knows.
    Our physical beings . . .
    our molecules and atoms
might change and transform into many other things,
    our egos might melt away,
    even our memories.
    What about our inner cores,
    our spirits,
    our souls . . .
what is Life in the end?
Now that is an adventure to anticipate
    with love. ♥

“even the dead are alive” – this made me think of the 2017 movie ‘Coco’ I LOVE that movie, love Dia de Los Muertos and visiting Mexico at Epcot. I also loved alebrijes too – “even dead animals are alive”

        I think,
        dear Michele,
        that Life is relative . . . 🙂

Dear Sparrow, your insight that “even the dead are alive” reminds me of this poem by Andrea Gibson. It’s beautiful. Last poem before they passed of cancer recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmZHLvq-gDg

        I am honored,
        dear Drea,
        that what I wrote
reminded you of this poem . . .
        it is a beautiful tribute
        to Life,
        to Death,
        to Love.
        Thank you. ♥

Aliveness. I guess I would define it as being present, taking part, contributing, or maybe just the awareness in the moment, that you are alive.

Yes, my Ngoc. In order to heal, we must face our emotions. Pleasure seeking only amplifies the uncomfortable ones.

By paying attention to life and being an active player in it, staying curious and interested, and finding joy in whatever finds me. It’s a passion for living rather than just sitting back and watching the world go by.
