I’d like to think that I live with integrity. What I’ve had to learn in the past few years is to listen to my body and try to adjust the food I eat to what I need. My body feels lighter, is lighter, and I now enjoy some healthy foods that I had never tasted before. I don’t worry too much if I eat something that isn’t in my food plan, which happens if I am away from home or celebrating with family or friends. I enjoy it, move on, and keep nutritious food available for next time I am hungry. I think I am being true to myself this way.

I live every day with integrity. Life is too short to be anything but honest and to have good intentions. I try to be the best version of myself every day in the hopes of showing my children how to be the best version of themselves. I work in a preschool, and integrity is a large part of who we are and what we stand for. Teaching young minds how to be honest and true is a blessing.

Ashley, the first years of our lives shape the foundation of who we are.

I believe I live with integrity every day, although that wasn’t always the case. I remember the occasional small dishonesties I might utter when I was younger, uncomfortable with or afraid of owning up to a mistake or omission. I came to realize it was always better to own something early rather than to be caught out late, and nothing was ever irreparably harmed when I told the truth and accepted responsibility. Rather, I grew and learned through honesty.

I speak my truth in work conversations and raise questions that need to be asked. I can carry this question into a leadership meeting I have today to be sure I continue to conduct myself this way. If the opportunity presents itself I can also frame a topic as being about integrity to support my colleagues in doing the same.

Barb, I have my stories as a teenager. I was only allowed to play 45 minutes per day on video games on school nights from Mondays to Thursdays. I got an extra 45-minute session for weekends each from Friday-Sunday. Once, in 2006 when I was 14 years old at the start of 9th grade, I got grounded for playing too much. I loved that NBA Live game where I was creating players and scoring at least 90 points easily each game. One day, while I was grounded, my dad unplugged the chord. It was in my room. Since he worked at night, I waited til he slept, pugged the chord back in, and played silently. I got by, but my mom saw my face later on and caught me for lying. Yes, my strings got pulled.

Applying the “Golden Rule” to all my thoughts about and interactions with others, treating myself kindly, spending my disposable time and resources thoughtfully and with purpose, reflecting and acting upon how I can contribute to a better world for everyone, and practicing grateful living are a few ways with which I could live with integrity today.

Since I’m spending so much time alone these days, it’s easy to “cheat” – eat in an unhealthy way, be lazy, be lax in my devotions, all these things and more that I hold as valuable for my lifestyle, but when, as some have said, “no one is watching” it is easy to be free with and say to myself – “I deserve this little time off track”. That is not living with integrity. Today I will be mindful of what my core values are for myself and for living in community (as a citizen of creation). Thanks for this question that causes me to look squarely in the mirror and remind myself who and Whose I am.

Katrina, the cat will play when the mouse is away. During times when my parents are out of town with just Ngoc and me, I get excessive pleasure from getting autonomy, because Ngoc and I get to dine out at places we like. My parents love Vietnamese food while Ngoc and I love International foods. Consistency is what helps me get past temptations. I make sure to read the bible. Ngoc and I keep our dining at a minimum as much as possible, because it costs a lot of money. Eating at home is also healthier as well.

I hope living with integrity also includes giving yourself time to rest, Katrina. That’s so important. Your list sounds like having to always be “on”.

My mentor used to say, “We are here to integrate (integrity) our insides and our outsides.” That rings true to me. Integrity breeds honesty; honesty breeds a self-awareness that leads to an open, caring and compassionate mind and heart. As far as shifting for greater alignment, I have to remind myself often that to integrate my insides and my outsides challenges me to be an instrument of the peace and the love I seek. Life calls us to BE before we DO. After all, we’re called human beings not human doings! My God is a vulnerable God, an evolutionary God, a God who has given all creation free will. To live with integrity, I ask myself each day, how can I look at “what is” through the eyes of love. How can I be real, deal in reality, in all of today’s situations?

https://cac.org/daily-meditations/is-god-all-powerful/ I can relate to Richard Rohr’s meditation today.

I’ll keep an eye out for ways in which I might be deceiving myself. I strive to live daily with integrity. I’m also a human with the usual flaws. Curiosity, self-compassion, surrender, and gratefulness will help me today, and all days, as I learn more about myself and others.

Drea, for me, excessive pleasure is one of the signs I’m deceiving myself, because I remember pulling strings for autonomy when Ngoc wasn’t around not too long ago.

Live with integrity today… It is a little challenge of the day. It’s not because I am dishonest, but about how I receive honest words from others. Many times, positive feedback is delivered to me in a sharp tone, and it’s hard but helpful to accept. Happy Wednesday to all!

My Ngoc, we’ve talked about this on multiple occasions before. That sharp honest positive feedback is the sharp assertive communication style I hinted in the 2 types being gentle and assertive. It’s an interesting delemma setting up when our parents communicate to us. Their messages go through the head, but there’s also great discomfort in the heart. We know that they want what’s best for us and to help us become critical thinkers, but they also don’t know how to reach our hearts too. In fairness to them, it’s hard to do both. Usually, we get through to someone with one or the other.

Integrity means doing your best, even when no one’s paying attention. Today I am going to attend an online workshop about passing my nursing exam, so I will try my best at that and I’ll try to study today and finish all the quizzes in the Nurse Achieve program. I’ll probably also make some food with healthy ingredients which will be delicious. Treating your body well is also integrity, right?

      I can’t imagine,
      dear Louise,
      doing things any other way.

is to be honest with myself. ♥

Exactly, Luis. Doing our best without being noticed will eventually get us recognition. As the old addage goes, “Slow and steady wins the race.”

I believe this question should be asked of our Congress/Government perhaps.

I don’t think you meant that to be funny, but I had to laugh at what you wrote about Congress/Government. I think their version of integrity is what they think people might believe in the moment.
