The seasons, the seasons though they change are consistent within that change. They are an important reminder of shedding old values and growing while also keeping me grounded. This is especially important to me, because I associate change as a negative from my past experiences. Slowly I am learning that change is never ending, and that it only means bigger things are in store.
In life and in nature it is the seasons that bring me comfort. Even though we don’t have clear, definitive seasons here in North Texas, they are still dependable enough to rely on and bring assurance that life goes on in cycles. I am not in control, as much as I might like to be. And that is a comfort.
In nature, I would say it’s the reliability of the seasons. The coming of spring always amazes me.
And here in California, it may not even be as dramatic, but I still notice all the little things and the general greening up of the hills.
In life, knowing that the ups and downs, the tragedy and miracle, the loss and the gaining, are always happening. Sometimes all at the same time. Sometimes right next to each other.
I live in Pennsylvania where we solidly have four seasons. Do I get a little frustrated when it is cold and snowy for weeks on end, yes I do, but I also remember this is nature, this is what makes Pennsylvania so beautiful and green most of the year. In the spring, its wet, but April showers bring May flowers (so they say) and it cleans up the winter ‘mess’. The spring gets us ready for a nice hot summer, fall it cools back down but is still beautiful with the leaves changing etc. Then winter, a time of snuggling up and reflection and preparing for the birth of our Lord. (ok, I would be ok, if winter ended at the end of January…)
Right now, the rain and gray clouds. The cool air. The earth saturated with water. The plants given a chance to grow green. We’ve been facing dust, pounding heat, diminishing reservoirs. This rain is a balm.
The Universe
is great well of wisdom , , ,
a great beating heart,
a current
that runs the tides,
the phases of the moon,
the days and nights,
the hot and the cold.
This great well
holds life and death equally . . .
part of the rhythm of this wild and beautiful
existence.
If I listen closely,
quietly and openly
I can almost hear the music of the spheres . . .
it’s there,
within the wren’s song,
hidden in the beating of the hummingbird’s wings,
in the undercurrent
of the living,
breathing ocean waves.
This pulse in my wrist,
in my ears,
my heart and in my blood
is evidence alone
of the Great,
unimaginable World I am a part of.
Something happens
that speaks to all things
and all things speak to each other
to create this dance that we step to
every day of our lives.
I yearn to be more than an observer . . .
I ache to be a part of that singing heart.
I want to dance to that rhythm,
and lay my head upon the breast of eternity. ♥
The cumulative rhythm of the traditional four seasons with colors of autumn leaves, then bare trees, snow, budding trees, humidity, etc. is the cycle of Nature I know well. It’s comforting to me in its own way. Blessings to all this day. May we be Peace makers on our planet. ☮️🙏🏼🫶🏽
I find it most comforting when I hear our natural alarm sounds from the birds. That is the most wonderful alarm I have, and its availability tells me that spring is here in the Twin Cities. 🐦
I love the transitions like early morning, sunset, early spring, and early fall. There’s something magical about liminal times when things aren’t one or the other. It just reminds me that things are always moving forward.
I just opened our patio door so that I could hear the birds singing. I love listening to them. Their sweet songs are naturally comforting. I also enjoy the rhythm of the ocean, watching the waves roll in and out, the gentle crashing of them on the shore before they pull themselves back out into the vastness of it all. We’re going to the beach in just over two weeks, and I cannot wait to savor the salty air and ocean!
It’s warm enough probably in Florida, but we’re going to Carolina Beach, NC, and I just looked up the ocean temp there… about 66 degrees. Still a bit chilly! Maybe it’ll warm up to 70 by the time we go. I really want to surf, so I might have to rent a wetsuit. Although with my body having warmer temps recently, it might be quite nice 😆

The beauty of spring flowers, daffodils, tulips and lilacs etc. The special music of morning birds. . Being anywhere near the ocean. 🌞💕🪻

Drea, it sounds like you’ve been getting a lot of rain more recently.
More clouds than rain so far, but I’m holding out hope. We’re in the worst drought on record.

The sameness and the unexpected are the rhythms of life. I respect them.

My Ngoc, they happen every morning around 5am.
I love the cool breeze and shade, especially on a hot summer day. It’s a release from the heat.
Loc, what I’m hearing is that you LOVE the hot days because, through those days, you see the value of shade. Right? 🎄
LOL, I just love cool weather.

How nice SUNNYPATTI! Enjoy ! What beach is it warm enough to swim ? Not here or I guess you could for a few minutes if you’re hardcore!
