Being able to show my mother around my new work space spontaneously and being able to witness the depth of emotions in my patients and be there through their struggle
Rain making music outside my window,
tapping out a pattern
on leaves and glass,
happily unaware of anything
but its own mission,
the stars hidden
behind a veil of clouds . . .
and we,
curled up like animals in our warm den,
scent of flesh and fur . . .
one cat curled up behind his knees,
the other stretched out in my arms,
her head resting in the palm of my hand . . .
feeling his breath in my hair
as his arm tightens around my shoulders,
pulling the sheet up over mine.
There is a stirring
as we settle into complete comfort,
and we let go
and begin our journey
into the deep,
dark,
sacred night.
It’s in that moment of transition
where the magic happens. ♥
Yes, rain is music dear Sparrow. This portion of the San Luis Valley is forecasted for 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms 4/11. It will at least cloud up and smell nice with the increase in humidity.
April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.
The peaceful atmosphere before even the lovely birdsong just starts early mornings (today my day started at 4 in the morning) as well as the wonder of the breathtaking night sky these days with clear sight onto the magic of the blinking stars from above as if greeting silently and even peacefully make me just being silenced in awe and full of gratefulness, nourishing me deeply.. Knowing that this utter beautiful moments are shared with all who lift their eyes and senses is inspiring and nourishes peace inside of all.
I never thought that I would ‘retire’ but I did! I now appreciate morning coffee with my husband and duties around the house. Now that the weather is getting springy, I anticipate doing more yard work and gardening. It feels nourishing to get my hands in the dirt!
My walk, my visit to this site, watching my bird feeder and bird bath, the lunch time phone call from my young neighbor to check on me. I’m also very thankful today that I am not in pain.
What Can I say? — By Mary Oliver
“What can I say that I have not said before?
So I’ll say it again.
The leaf has a song in it.
Stone is the face of patience.
Inside the river there is an unfinishable story
and you are somewhere in it
and it will never end until all ends.
Take your busy heart to the art museum and the
chamber of commerce
but take it also to the forest.
The song you heard singing in the leaf when you
were a child
is singing still.
I am of years lived, so far, seventy-four,
and the leaf is singing still.”
Yesterday I took a walk in the glorious sunshine. I noticed the trees, the blooming flowers everywhere and the smiles I exchanged with other walkers. I didn’t worry, plan, obsess, etc. I just walked in the sunshine. Loved it.
First thing in the morning, sipping my coffee, listening to classical music, looking out my windows & observing the great outdoors. Just pausing & taking it all in sets me right for the day ahead & nourishes my soul.
My daily walks are also a source of nourishment.
Observing Mother Nature as I get my steps in makes me feel good. 😊

The simple moments throughout my day that are the most nourishing are the quiet moments often in my home, near the living room window, when I am feeling peaceful and grateful for what I have. I can see my four cats, usually sleeping peacefully, my home, the steps to upstairs, the loveseat, sofa, tables, and miscellaneous items here and there. I feel peaceful and know that I am home.
I look forward to my morning routine. There was a time, not too long ago, that my mornings were full of dread, overwhelm, and anxiety.
Now, my little routine of coffee, quiet time with the cats, reading, and contemplation, fill me with nourishment for the coming day.
These few weeks out of the year, my gardens are bursting with blooming iris. They remind me of a choir in matching robes, but all different heights, some big and fluffy, some smaller, but just as glorious. Most of them are yellow, with a white or purple sprinkled in. I love going out to spend time with them – I can almost hear them singing. For sure I see them dancing and swaying. They are such lovely company this time of year. They make me smile, no matter what.
The iris are the first to bloom here at home, in they way you described them, Katrina. They are a ways off at 7900′ but are about 4 inches tall. Soon enough they will bloom and usher in the other flowers!
Some of the smallest things are taking a sip of my favorite drink, ice cold on a warm day, walking my dog, hugging a loved one, or even just driving by myself <3.

Seeing birds land on my deck. Working from home today and being able to sit outside in the sunshine and have my lunch.

As you say,
dear Joseph,
‘agua es vida’. ♥
Thank you for that poem.

I agree wholeheartedly Ose. I awake every morning to the stillness of 4am.

Congrats on your retirement:)
Congrats!
You are a person after my own heart,
dear Enndee . . .
I too,
live for the garden
and will think of you
as I am at play,
turning the soil in mine. ♥

Oh, I love this. Thank you 💜
Beautiful. Very beautiful.
I am thankful,
dear Carol Ann,
that you are gifted
with all of these things.
Yes,
I think the leaf is singing still
for you too. ♥
Thank you, Carol Ann. This poem is beautiful 💖

I just had a vision of R. Crumbs, Mr. Natural, with the phrase Keep on Truckin’ underneath his bare foot.

Getting to just sit for a minute or two looking out the window and drinking a cup of tea
All it takes
is a moment,
dear Greensilver,
doesn’t it? ♥
Sitting outside in the sun, petting dogs, the flowers and other pleasant surprises I see when walking or running outside.
Drea, it’s a sunny day in the Twin Cities too. Enjoy it before the rain comes in the coming days.

Mary, that living room window is peaceful. I have it in my house too. There’s a lake in front of it.
Any time I consciously connect with others.
Yram, common ground makes a huge difference. It goes to show how we’re not programmed to go alone.

Katrina, I love your post. Thank you for painting the image of your beloved irises.
I too love irises. Enjoy it all…🩷
That sounds beautiful, Katrina!
