I can follow through with my organizing/cleaning plan for today.
That will create joy for me and prepare my home for company.
I can look at those who I see today in the eyes and smile.
absolutely, Mary. simpatica.
“follow through”. “create – prepare – look and smile” . I’m with you! slow and steady and gratefully forward. Today I bake, looking forward to sharing the caring! carol ann.
Today’s quote sums up so well what we can offer to each other and the magnitude of those offerings. To recognize and appreciate the humanity in another is no small thing. Life can be hard. For everyone. To look another in the eye and give them our heartfelt greetings or thanks says, “I’m glad you’re here. Thank you for caring for me. Our shared moment may have been brief but your presence made a difference to me.”
Do my best to remember there’s more to this day than my “to-do” list, which too often blinds me to noticing what’s in front of me. I just second the other posts – look in their eyes, smile, be awake to what they might need, listen to what they say – all the best of simple attention. Thanks to everyone who reminded me!
Today, I will be picking up a few items to prepare for a Christmas Eve neighborhood gathering, as well as several containers of coffee and boxes of hot cocoa packets for one of our homeless shelters. Wherever I go, extra words of appreciation to staff and clerks for their help will be delivered. Tomorrow, when the items are taken to our shelter, looking at folks directly, spending a moment here and there, being present in their space, taking time, will be my humble gift
schnecken and cousins and Nannies!! what a great combo!! ( …now, I will need to look up “schnecken”!!, but how fun to look forward to that, too!) thank you, Michele. good day to you, too. carol ann
Thank you Carol Ann. Schnecken is a German pastry – it mean’s ‘snail’ in German. I miss my Nanny, she was a the best grandmother and incredible cook/baker. She also used to bake Lebkuchen cookies too.
A smile, a pleasant greeting, holding a door open, interacting with children (that creates joy for me). Stopping to give a few dollars, a smile and a bit of conversation to people on the outs at parking lot corners in our largest town Alamosa and economic hub of the San Luis Valley. To be seen, recognized as a fellow human being. Looking at their eyes and being grateful that my eyes can convey compassion. I have known despair, looked out of eyes that saw very little or no hope. Yes, to see people as kindred spirits sharing a moment in time at the same time, here on earth.

Beautiful!
Well said, Laura.
I play Christmas music for the Menards customers during my shift on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays all from 2pm-5pm. It’s that time of the year.
Wish I could be there to listen!
I would want to be there with you, Carol.

Me too!
Taking time will be your humble gift, a most precious gift.

Thank you, Mary.
I just emailed my cousin my Nanny’s schnecken recipe she asked for, was glad I had it.

EJP, this reminds me of the same thing I do for Ngoc. Our conversations are deep and interesting.
That’s beautiful. ♥️
