Try again (and again) to establish an hour of quiet time at the start of the day, to meditate, stretch, and practice gratefulness here. I long to rediscover love, joy, beauty and peace in me and around me.
This is a very touching question. Getting lost in the humdrum of daily existence is easy enough for us. But what about that activity is NOT for our future self? This is an excellent call to action to be intentional about how we live our lives. Everything we do today affects our future self in one way or another. Remembering to look through this lens is highly enlightening. So, what did I intentionally do today for my future self? I introduced my new puppy to a fear-aggressive dog, particularly other dogs. She is near and dear to me, and, as such, I am one of the few people that can watch her when its owner is out of town. I would be heartbroken to lose that connection. The meet and greet went splendidly. Here is hoping we can continue that positive path with my new pup. I also continued putting up protection around my fruiting shrubs in the hope the rabbits would not be able to destroy them over the winter as they did last year.
Thanks to this question I found a yoga practice video suitable for dealing with my broken wrist. I had fallen away from my practice even before falling on a sidewalk and breaking my wrist and this was a prompt to figure out a way to start getting back into it.
I also did some gardening research to plan for future use of the 3 raised beds I have and that 3 more my husband is going to build for me. I’ve raised vegetables over the years but always without doing any of the advance work to start seedlings early and without remembering to do a late summer planting for fall crops. I want to do more food production and that means some homework.
My future self will also be happy that I took a walk down to the farmer’s market and got some local cheddar, baked pita chips, and hummus, along with a couple of new varieties of apples and beautiful romanesco and other locally grown foods. That isn’t just for my short-term snacking self, it’s for my long-term self who wants local food production to thrive.
Be kind to myself and learn life’s lessons with grace. I have been pondering this question all day as I’ve been feeling quite shaken up. Yesterday I sort of fell out of bed. I was kneeling up and leaning on my laptop which is on a side table in order to reach a place to put used plates as I have no lunchtime care calls on the weekends. The laptop slipped off the table and I went down with it. I only sprained my wrist a bit and upset the muscles up through to my shoulder but it really shook me up and left me feeling that I cannot manage on my own anymore. Today I have been able to think it through and see it as a lesson not to over-reach but place another small table nearby for stuff. This might be a lesson I actually remember!
Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear this! I relate completely right now to the challenge of reaching things when you have some limitations since I tripped and fell and broke my wrist but mine is a temporary situation. I already do some thinking about how we have a more accessible world because that’s part of my worklife but this is very much a real world reminder of how essential that is for all of us.
I put on a wool scarf under my armpits to warm my sore upper back. 😐
Try to remember not to forget my vitamins – I was weary and sore last night, and it turns out I forgot my vitamins yesterday. 😐
Be here now, even if a bit exhausted with need to recover today evening, expressing my deep gratefulness for all went well today when having been allowed to accompanying someone dear who is suffering deeply of a severe illness on his way to deeper connecting with his loved ones. Thank you dearly for all the support which has been for us. 🙏🏠📱💜✨🎶🚴🍇🍲🌺🙇🙏
By supporting my loved ones that are close by. Today I took my son’s 2 dogs on a field trip (during open house at our house) for 2 Hours. They are away in Orlando. I needed to be creative. We went for a Halloween drive thru display with music. That was fun! We took a drive to the new house and I tied one dog up and walk the other. They pull way too hard to walk both at once and then we sat by the water and watched boats in the harbor and enjoyed the sunshine : )
I can be kind to myself. This includes taking care of my body. Relaxation, stretching, meditation, and some gentle aerobic activity. I tweaked my back yesterday, so, ice, ibuprofen, and awareness. The next couple of weeks are going to be very very busy for me, so I must treasure this day.
Live like this is my last day on Earth when it comes to relationships. Live like I have a hundred more years on this Earth when it comes to health, spirituality and learning.
Thank you Dragonfly but I am one of those old ladies whose clothes are fraying and out of date. My husband told me yesterday that it was so strange/funny to hear me refer to myself as an old lady. I said, “Do you think about me that way?” Of course he is smart enough to say no. 🥰
Thanks Mica. That is encouraging. I am 73 and my husband is 83. His first grandchild to marry is getting married in Texas in February. I am almost as worried about what to wear as I am Covid in the airport. I wish his daughter was my size so I could just borrow something. I am thinking of asking for extra help as it is getting so hard getting through security. The hardest part is coming home when we have to start out at the Dallas Ft. Worth airport. Here we start at a pretty small airport so that helps.

Oh Barb, so sorry to hear about your broken wrist. I hope it’s healing up well and you will soon have back full use of it. Thanks for your reply 😊

Sounds like fun.

Thought provoking especially the second second sentence. Hmm?
Being here today–plus, all of my other practices. I should probably shop less, too (lol).
🛍🥰
I should probably shop more.
No, Rabbit, I think you are fine. 🙂

Good luck choosing your ‘wedding dress’, dear Rabbit 🙂 and I hope you enjoy the wedding and that the trip isn’t too hard!

I’m almost 77. You don’t seem old, Rabbit. I keep my old clothes and they give me variety when I’m tired on the clothes I’ve been wearing 🙂 ?? 🙁 ??
Do my best to be present to this day. Otherwise, practice the Presence. Probably not perfectly but with sincere intent.
I’ll ditto too
I will ditto all what was said and add: do something out my normal routine.
Stop. Look. Go. Kindness:)
