Plants, flowers, trees, all of nature which is there for us uconditionally for being able to breathe, for building a house, for nourishment and for our joy and recovery and recreation. The sun and the moon shining on water and all which is and the core of all existence; the sutras of the blessed wise; and also our being here, allowed to live together, learn, unfold and one day leave again back to the source of all, after hopefully having been able to ontribute my little part of making the world a little bit more friendly, hopefully a bit more peaceful, and joyful.
I hold my standards with myself very high. Today I will give myself grace, like not needing to write an essay during my reflections in order to feel it was worthy enough.
Music
has been present in my life
forever . . .
from the ‘Go Tell Aunt Rhodie’ lullabyes
of my childhood,
to my later years,
when I discovered handpan music,
aeolian windharps,
and tubular bells.
I believe that all things
and every thing
is sacred,
but today
I am thinking about music.
I was listening
to an old George Winston album
and unexpectedly
felt a change come over my whole body
and flow into my spirit.
I was so altered
that I stopped what I was doing,
put my head on my table
and just listened,
letting all parts of it
melt into me . . .
harmonies and melody alike,
and I was transformed,
a condition that has lasted all day
All of the arts are sacred,
but today
music
reached into my soul and took me completely
out of the ‘reality’ I was living in.
Listening to those piano pieces
breathed new life into me,
and I hadn’t realized
how much I have missed it
in my daily life.
I don’t know why I haven’t been listening
more often . . .
Music
can heal a broken heart,
inspire compassion,
soften our hardness
and teach us to love again.
It also has a darker side
like everything does,
but I choose the warmth and the light. ♥
I love handpan music,
dear Joseph . . .
(The handpan is a melodic, steel percussion instrument invented in 2000, known for producing a soothing, hypnotic, and resonant sound by striking it with the hands. It consists of two glued metal half-shells featuring a central tone field (ding) and surrounding notes. These instruments are popular for meditation, relaxation, and ambient music.”)

Thank you for your beautiful post and homage to arts and especially music, and a big Thank You dearly for this beautiful example of Handpan music. Very inspiring!
I hold life sacred. All of it. I read the question earlier this morning, not sure how to answer. But after teaching my mindful flow class, I am reminded how sacred I hold Yoga. I read some commentary on Yoga Sutra 1.12, and the philosophy that comes with this journey is so beautiful. I am so grateful that I found yoga all those years ago and that I took it deeper to be where I am right now.
It’s not surprising,
dear SunnyPatti . . .
yoga is a spiritual practice
as much as it is a physical one.
I really admire
how deeply you have gotten into it. ♥
I did read Richard Rohr’s meditation,
dear Carol Ann,
and realized how much fear
dominates our lives.
His words
treat us very gently,
as we much treat ourselves.
Thank you . . . ♥
One of the things in my life that I hold sacred is my love of learning, which I can remember having since I was a small child. I can express gratitude for it today by listening to a non-fiction book that I find interesting and informative. Another thing that I am learning to hold sacred is my body. I will express gratitude for it by eating healthfully and walking.
I hold sacred my relationship with the Holy Other and the universe created thereof. And I hold sacred my relationship with my husband and family, my sisters and my closest friends. I cannot imagine my life without all these relationships. Today I will have a Zoom conversation with two lifelong friends, catching up and supporting each other. It’s what we do.
Hmmm, sacred. I think of nature as sacred. But I’ll be indoors working all day. I will step outside and put my face in the sun and feel the energy with gratitude.
Another thing that is sacred to me, is my bond with family and friends. I will continue to hold them in my thoughts and continue my efforts to stay connected.
I’ve learned,
dear Charlie,
that indoors is sacred as well,
maybe not in quite the same way,
nor as easily accessible as the outdoors,
but this has helped me
through many a day
when I’ve been housebound.
And yes . . .
your bond with family and friends
is,
without a question,
sacred as well. ♥
The rain. We finally have some rain this week, after a grippingly dry winter. I will honor the rain by uncovering my garden beds, which I’ve been dry farming, so they can soak up water. I’ll capture rain in a container too, and save it.
I am fortunate to have close friends I can spend time with, and rely on. Our friendship is sacred to me, and I will give thanks for each one of them today.
I was very pleased to see that one of my 3 rose bushes survived the harsh winter. I have thanked it and will care for it with tender respectful attentiveness.
On Sunday I was walking in a wooded area, on a rustic path. We were looking for the Eagle’s nest nearby. We found it, and saw an adult Eagle perched near as a sentinel. Awe filled my heart. The gift of seeing some bobbing up and down activity from the massive nest brought more awe and prayers of thanks to Mother Nature. As I walked away from that area, watching my foot steps due to tree roots etc, I saw a small broad feather, about the width of three fingers. Given its markings I knew it was an Eagle feather. My being felt anointed. I didn’t take a picture. The moment was too Sacred. Blessings to all this new day and week. ☮️🪶
My succulents that are sitting on my office window. I’m grateful for their quiet strength. They grow, resilient regardless of not being centered. I love their pure beauty. Taking care of them is not only my way of thanks to them, but also one of my strategies to cope with stress. Happy Monday to all! 💐
I literally just watched last night an ASMR video of a succulent leaf removal (Leaf Succulent ASMR). It’s amazing to see all the growth hidden below it.

If you like piano,
dear Drea,
he is worth checking out. ♥
listen to George Winston is Always moving to me. Thanks Sparrow.

Love reading your post, Sparrow. I, too, love music. It’s been a very big part of my life.

Sparrow, In case you did not get a chance to read Richard Rohr today, here is the link. It moved me deeply.

Agua es Vida . . . . . thank you for the ode and praise to this life giving and sustaining gift Drea.
Joseph, you know the water well from working so closely with the land. Even in times of scarcity, you must deeply absorb the land’s gifts.
I’m sure,
dear Drea,
that Joseph
holds water just as sacred
as you . . . 🙂
agua es vida
Indeed! A gift of working so closely with the land.
Drea, it’s been quite dry in the Twin Cities over the last week or 2 as well. We also finally have some rain up here today.
Glad to hear it, Loc.

I can feel how sacred these moments were for you Carla 💗🦅
What a rare treat,
dear Carla,
to have such an experience,
twice received
by sharing it with us . . .
thank you for sharing
this intimate moment. ♥
This sounds like a very special moment. Thank you for sharing, Carla.
Eagle watching along the WI/MN on the Mighty is very awesome. Thank you for sharing the experience.
I hold the bible App on my phone sacred. I’m grateful to only move closer to god. He has transformed me in ways beyond my imagination.

My Ngoc, it’s amazing to see how they can grow even with 1 dropplet of water.
I have been given the opportunity to teach again this week. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach again and will give it my full attention.
