People who are honest, who can look directly at you with kindness and speak their truth sustains my faith in humanity. People who truly act for the benefit of others with no expectation of reward or praise.
Sustains my faith in humanity? In addition to all the acts of kindness I observe, it is The idea that divinity can be housed in us.
This site, many thanks!
When I experience the love and support I get from where I work. I have never worked with such loving people. They make me feel safe.
When I received help from my Meeting, just when I needed it the most.
Babies, children, many animals (not all..) and being with/ observing/ seeing/ knowing so many humans who are present with those who are most vulnerable in simple, uncomplicated ways …

With that Moon Language
Admit something: Everyone you see, you say to
them, ‘Love me.’
Of course you do not do this out loud, otherwise
someone would call the cops.
Still, though, think about this, this great pull in us
Why not become the one who lives with a full
moon in each eye that is always saying,
with that sweet moon language, what every other
eye in this world is dying to hear?

My daily practice. My quest for Truth. Moving purposefully, mindfully, openly through this Cloud of Unknowing.
I have a book called Humankind: A Hopeful History, which uses actual scientific and historical evidence to argue that human nature is generally good. I haven’t read it all yet, but I am fascinated to see how this book might help sustain my faith in humanity.
Adding this to my library list. Thank you for the book recommendation!
Participating in the good things humans do with open hearts, skillful hands and cheerful dispositions. Yesterday for instance, for my food rescuing gig I picked up 300 prepared meals donated by some community focussed chefs, delivered them to agencies feeding folks living rough on the streets or in dire straits. And humans in the arts! In the evening we saw an uplifting play. And eco-focussed political humans. We rode to the play on bike friendly roads. It’s often a matter of perspective isn’t it?
Kindness & love all around. It is there, we just have to look for it.
Turn off the news, also called “fear porn”.
There are kind, loving, generous, good people everywhere. They are the majority.✨✨❤️
a couple of the neighbors on my floor
the firm decision to be human myself. To be empathic , loving, creative, forgiving, grateful…
All of the wonderful people in my life, and in the world. I also want to mention Liz Cheney, as she courageously defends our system of government this week.
Small act’s of kindness.
I don’t have faith in humanity. I have faith in individual people, and people in community with each other.
I’m an optimist by nature so my starting point is always to believe that most people are doing the best they can, every day, just as I am. I believe the good outweighs the bad–the good just needs to get up off its butt and show up and not take for granted that other good will be there to cover for it. So when I see or read about or participate in the showing up, my faith is sustained.

The deep kindness I receive from so many people who don’t realise what good and compassionate listeners they are.
A child’s laughter. Or anyone’s laughter to be honest. Watching others succeed and that light that shines in their eyes. Seeing compassion, and acts of kindness. Witnessing people awaken to their purpose. Growth, it is happening.
Yeh laughter! Thanks for that reminder …
When someone tells me of the good they have done. When I see, and or hear kindness, generosity, compassion , values, compassion, patience, inclusion, equality, human rights being upheld etc.
Kindness. Pure and simple kindness. Watching a grandparent interact with his grandchild with delight and tenderness. A hug from my young neighbor before she boards her bus as she wishes me a good day. Coming downstairs to find that my husband has already walked the dog so I don’t have to go out in the rain. Showing up for one another even when it is inconvenient. Reaching out to one another with kindness restores my faith.
Hearing of unprompted acts of kindness. People who just step up and pitch in because they see a need and want to help. I’ve been accused of being too idealistic, but despite our many differences as humans, I believe that there is a lot of compassion and love in casseroles, sandwiches, blankets, bottled water, blood donations and monetary contributions. We care deeply for one another.
It is only today that I have found this website. As I reflect on this daily question I have come to the realization it is THIS very question which has been traversing my heart prompting me to sign onto this site. A persistent search for meaning is my sustenance.
Welcome Nancy:) Great community here.
Welcome Nancy, How wonderful that your traversing led you this way! I hope that you find rays of the meaning and sustenance you are seeking here. It is a truly beautiful community … Warmly, KC
Welcome, dear Nancy! Some of us are fond of the Lounge, too, at the CONNECT link.
Welcome to the community, Nancy!
Looking into the eyes of people I meet and seeing their preciousness grounds me in the connectedness of us all and gives me faith in us all.
Helpers are everywhere. I see the good and know we are all in this together.
Some days it feels challenging to maintain my faith in humanity. Instead, I focus on the person in front of me, or the sum of people around me day in and day out. It is here where my where my heart sings, where I receive nourishment, joy, and love and hopefully share a measure of it with others.
Nice 🙂 … Wishing many nourishing, joyful and loving encounters and exchanges through your day! …
Thank you, KC. Hope your hours in this day, and those to come, are likewise.
A simple smile from a stranger.
Hearing/seeing any good news:)
Knowing we are all connected and really feeling it. When I feel connected to others, it’s easy to find the good and easier to trust the process.
So many things and so many people! Just last week, I volunteered at one of the grade schools in town, and taught 43 students how to plant herbs and vegetables in raised beds. To see those kids working together was inspiring.
I wish adults could do as well, especially in politics! And to spend time with my grandkids-even my great grandkids as young as they are-gives me hope and uplifts my faith in humanity.
Then I should first feel like I could lose faith. That feeling of losing faith has never occurred to me.
Dear Christine, if I may ask, is this true??
Here’s how I experience humanity.
We are all children of God. God is love, so we are love. There are of course a lot of egos who don’t know or feel that unfortunately, but egos are fleeting and love is eternal. I see that light is stronger than the dark. I know that Love can not die.
Love to you from Christine 💞
And love and a blessed day to you, Christine, from Kevin!
