When being with friends, singing and playing music, dancing, cooking together, as well as being in nature, being together in meditation and stillness also.
When I am in my body. When I move to music, when I climb, when I lay body to body with my partner, when I “sit and know I’m sitting”, when I can feel what my client is feeling, when my mind is where my feet are.
And when I’m awed by nature, raptured by beauty. When I know and sense that I am part of something bigger, something beautiful and alive.
I feel most alive: when I feel loved; when I am with friends in an engaging conversation; when alone or walking with my pup in nature; when holding my grandbaby; at times when dancing or practicing tai chi or yoga; I guess times when I am fully present to the moments.
Great question!
Exercising with music makes me feel alive!
Dancing!
Meditating.
Truly listening to another.
Knowing that I’m being seen by another.
Being in nature.
Playing with my cats with interactive toys😂🥰
Playing with kittens
Spending time with someone that I love.
Completing an organizing project. 🥳
Being on this site and feeling seen.
Being at the beach after sunset,
walking with waves rushing over my feet and ankles,
Looking out at the vastness of the ocean,
and knowing that I’m a part of this vast world.
Knowing that the birthing place of life, my life was the sea.
Squatting down in the ocean so that the water is over my shoulders
and feeling the ocean moving my body
and feeling that I am engulfed in nature’s womb.
Loving today’s Word for the Day
about the freedom that comes with choosing love.
Choosing love today.
And sending love and peace to all.
It’s hard to rank these things, but one way that I feel alive, it when I make a new connection and hear someone’s story and I get to ask questions about another place and time, and their journey. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it makes me feel connected to this world and part of the human story.
Doing improv: I’m 100% in the moment, every moment.
Riding my bike fast downhill with no one else on the road. (A driver coming toward me adds the “hope they don’t kill me” piece that takes this out of the feeling most alive zone.)
Being somewhere with awe-inspiring nature, like at the ocean listening to the waves or in downtown Spokane, WA in spring when the river is high and you can stand on bridges over the river, feel them shaking with its power and the spray misting up at you.
Dancing with my sweetheart.
Holding my sign at a protest, surrounded by thousands of people moved by the same spirit and passion for a better world.
(A driver coming toward me adds the “hope they don’t kill me” piece that takes this out of the feeling most alive zone.) I know you are serious but that line made me chuckle. In my youth hauling downhill on a bile, I am sure similar thoughts ran through my head Barb.
We both have that bike thing. If I understand “flow states” , it’s definitely when I’m going downhill on my bike. It’s also one of the things I feel truly competent at. 😁
Your more specific list was so inspiring and poetic, Mary! I especially loved what you said about squatting in the ocean so that it is up to your shoulders and thinking about the birthing place of life was from the sea.
First off, I loved the photo in the Word For the Day – beautiful!
I feel most alive when my heart is beating fast.
Wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July weekend – enjoy time with family and friends, eating all the yummy food, relaxing, and watching fireworks in the evening weather permitting.

Having new interests helps me feel most alive such as doing collaborative Vietnamese poetry with my family and getting into the NFL.
Collaborative Vietnamese poetry. That sounds wonderful, Loc.

Beautiful,
dear Judith . . .
all of it. ♥
Yes, to all of these, Judith!

You really make me want to immerse myself in the ocean!! I know that feeling, and I love it, too.
There’s nothing like it!
I too,
choose love today,
dear Mary . . . ♥
😊🌷
Yes, the freedom that comes with choosing love… essential for our being here. Thank you. for the reiminder, dear Mary.

Moments of deep connection, with other people, animals, or nature.
You said everything I was trying to say, all in one sentence. ♥️

Thank you Elizabeth. I love that sensation so much. It feels primal.
That my senses are functioning well.
Amazing,
isn’t it,
dear Yram?
All working together
to give us experience. ♥
Experiencing the outdoors, even my tame and civilized slice of suburbia.

Stillness, silence, going into the Center.
Yes, Avril, beautiful.
Music + dancing
Yoga
Walks + hikes in nature
Laughing
Yes, SunnyPatti, laughing, especially with others, the best!🥰
Oh, laughing, yes! A good belly laugh–such a joy.
The feeling after a good workout, my children’s laughter, music that fits my mood, my mom’s supportive words
Children’s laughter.
Yes, yes, yes!
