There are 81 openings for an English teacher on the teachga website. That’s 81 opportunities to find another job.

To possibly contribute with a project already finished to may be support realizing a dream, which a very honored scientist once heartfelty longed for and where he saw his findings in its true place, In his precious work, he had opened a door to widen mindfulness and creative perspectives for the sake of the well being of all, which planted a seed of hope and Light in many kindred people. It would be just wonderful if there would be an opportunity to add my little part to the whole of it.

I have the opportunity in this moment to look out at the amazing mountains and clear blue sky and feel the softness of the warm breeze on this winter day and be deeply grateful to my husband for giving us a life here.
I have the opportunity right now to thank God for the strength to exercise so strenuously at my age and for the loving phone call I just had with my sister

I am working with a young refugee from Afghanistan. There are so many opportunities to be of service to this delightful young woman. I am very grateful.

I have an opportunity to breathe and take in the moment free from anxiety and worry about the world. Take in the beauty of nature outside my door. Be with family and friends in the moment. Hug my dog and just relax in my world with gratitude for what is here now.

An infinite amount of opportunities exist in this moment. The question is which will I recognize and respond to….

I have the opportunity to be here, reading notes from my fellow coffee drinkers and a tea lover or two, while my husband brings me a fresh cup of French Press. I start my days reading poems at ayearofbeinghere.com (I read the poems for this date in each of the 3 years the curator Phyllis Cole-Dai was posting mindfulness-related poetry). Then I come here and read, even if I don’t post. I can take a few deep breaths and pause in this space before getting breakfast and starting on the day. I am always grateful for the question and your thoughtful answers so this is an opportunity to say that.

In my work I have a huge opportunity related to possible growth in the programs I direct. It depends on legislative action and nothing is certain but this feels highly probable. I’ve worked for years to prepare the ground for this and seeds have been planted–we may be about to get some fertilizer, water, and sunshine! So I’m excited for the day and the work I’ll be doing to analyze the possibility and help move it forward into reality. Our Pacific Northwest skies are gray right now but I can feel the sun.

Today i have the opportunity to be present when in conversation with my loved ones. I also am blessed with the ability to work out and to be grateful for what my body has done and continues to do for me every single second. I have the most valuable opportunity of still being alive and to continue to strive to be a better version of myself with each passing moment because we really never know and should never take for granted the time we have left on this earth.

Is opportunity a given or do we create it? Is knowledge helpful or a hindrance when pursuing it? Does opportunity come from questions answered or questions lived? Is the answer to a question a fact or an opinion? How does one live a question? Psychiatrist Sheldon Kopp says that all major decisions are made without sufficient information. Is that what it means to live the question? Does it mean that you make the decision, take the direction, and refuse to label it right or wrong? When the fruit of that decision arrives, it may be ripe, it may be green; it may be tasty or bitter but it will always deliver the opportunity to learn and grow. Perhaps, the image of the ostrich can teach us much. It buries its head in the sand. We need to bury our head in our heart and know that when we do so, we will recognize opportunity more readily. Martha Williamson says that from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Today’s question challenges me to ask: What am I saying to myself today?

Because I’m working from home today, I have the opportunity to reflect, mediate, and do some stretching, before sitting down to work. And always the opportunity to try and be present.

I have the opportunity to do as I wish today. An opportunity to sleep under same roof as my son and wife. I have the opportunity to not be a part of the constant doings of everyday life.

I’m inspired by the practically forgotten holzmiete method of stacking firewood, becoming a round, igloo or pine cone-type structure that leans into its center from all directions rather than the conventional 4’x4’x8’ cord. My yard is still full of the rounds from the many trees that were removed recently from my neighbors properties. The sun is up and temps are in the fifties this afternoon. Time to get to cracking and stacking!

You have a big yard – my son never gets full cords of firewood. Warm wishes –

The tree services that my neighbors hire have our place marked as a convenient dump site for the large limbs, chipped branches, and trunk sections that are just small enough to muscle into the back of their dump trucks which the county would require that they haul to a distant landfill and pay to dispose of. I can save them that expense and I consider them a valuable resource.

That’s wonderful – it sounds like a win-win situation for you and the neighbors. Thanks for sharing.

I’m at a work conference this week, finally meeting my colleagues in person for the first time. We’ve only met through Zoom. Already, there’s plenty of collaborations on projects. Lots of brainstorming and enthusiasm. Many new professional opportunities are being made.

Oh dear, Christine! I’d better not look down at my floor because I don’t feel like sweeping – and it almost always needs sweeping1! 🙂 But your response did make me laugh – the practical realities of life are always there for us, aren’t they?!

Well, my insomnia has visited, so I took this opportunity to read alot of emails and answer them, I cleaned out my spam folder on one email addy, watched a David Attenborough video, and am now going back to bed for a few hours.
In a few hours I will get up and drink my wonderful coffee….may your day be bright with much happiness and joy.
UPDATE: After rising, I had that wonderful coffee, giver of energy, and then I took the opportunity-because I already read all the emails that needed answering-to do a sensation meditation. I am doing Sharon Salzberg’s challenge, and that meditation is in there. So, I did the meditation, and for the first time I could feel doing the PT in my hand before the pain starts!!! This is a big deal!!! I am deeply grateful for this opportunity my insomnia gave me today-woohoo!!!!! I have been trying to find that “sweet spot” for years! So grateful….
