All beings are shining light into my life right now – my creator, strangers who bless me unexpectedly, neighbors, family members, ancestors, people who invented various useful gadgets that make my life less chaotic, farmers …. “Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” Anne Lamott
I am looking for more light right now. This winter was the worst one in 30 years weather wise! I did chair yoga tonight which was great and still looking to fill my life with more joy around our new home. One thing that is possibly a nice shining light is my son has a new GF and I am hopeful that she is the person he has been longing for. She is very sweet but the relationship is still very new ✨🌞
My teacher, who realy loves fellow people unconditionally; my sister who is there for others as well as for me when needed, my dear friend Anna, sharing her loving perspective onto our fellow people, supporting peaceful paths in full respect towards all living beings; The sun, and the moon. All being a bright source of light shining into my life right now. So deeply grateful.
I have to decide where to look so that I can find the light that I seek. As I have mentioned before in posts, paying attention is important. I won’t find light if I am sleepwalking. So I come back to asking myself a few questions. What interests me? Where are the opportunities in my life?
Last Tuesday in my art class, I went in with the intention of being kind to my classmates, rather than being self conscious with them. That was a good experience. I reached out to a young woman, who does excellent artwork and enjoyed talking with her. I am thinking perhaps we could be friends. I think it could be a light filled experience to have a friendship, rather than just friendliness, with someone who loves art as I do. So I will keep my eyes open as I renew my intention to move with kindness in my art class.
There are many who are Beacons. I’m grateful for them all. There’s even a handful of rabbits in my fenced yard, who know they’re safe from nearby dogs, who’re hopping along regularly. They remind me spring is on its way, as they nibble on the tender leaves of clover and dandelions. May your week be Grace filled.☮️
I seek out the light. So, everyone I see and interact with, the authors I read, the talks or podcasts I listen to, and the people that are in my life, including the people here in this group, shine their light on me. Thank you all for being here and sharing. 🙏
Nature/Spring is shining light into my life right now…For the first time in weeks it is not so windy and dusty. The sun in shining, flowers are blooming, temperatures are perfect, it just rained this weekend a wonderful soaking rain. Birds are singing; we have a new goose couple who has decided our yard is worth visiting every day. I will be planting new pot plants this week and my husband is building new raised beds for the vegetable garden. And we are celebrating the Easter Season of hope. Thanks be.
People in my family and community who give me the opportunity to help them out. They are shining a light on my life with joy and the possibility that I am capable of continuing. I wake up every day with a purpose: to be a good helper. Happy Monday, everyone!
I wrote a post but apparently forgot to click on post comment. I will not rewrite it. I will just say that everyone is shining a light into my life right now. Some are dim and some are extremely bright. I think this is true every moment of every day.
One of my best friends. We hadn’t had a chance to see each other for a while so she suggested that on Saturday we could get takeout and sit by the water. We browsed a bit in one of the fun shops in downtown first, then got our food and biked to the nearby waterfront to sit on a bench and appreciate the sun’s warmth while we caught up on what’s been happening in our lives. I had brought her some bottled chocolate from Angelina’s, a cafe in Paris famous for its hot chocolate (it’s basically a melted chocolate bar in a cup!) and she had a scarf for me. Impromptu gift-giving just because is one of my favorite things to do; I wasn’t expecting a gift in return. Then we rode home in the sunshine. I tend to take the same route every time; she mixes it up more so I see different neighborhoods.
When we moved to this town we ended up finding a house only about a mile and a half from where she lives and I’m so glad. This is the first time since high school that I’ve lived near a friend and could easily spend time together. That light is in my life all the time now.
What a nice get-together for you and your friend! My good friend is coming home this weekend for a break from her fieldwork in another state, and I cannot wait for our lunch date on Friday. Time spent together is so important.
I have a couple of friends in their late 70s, so roughly my parents’ age, who I look up to. They allow themselves to fully feel and experience the vicissitudes of life, which in both their cases have not been insubstantial. I had a good, long conversation with each friend this weekend, and felt inspired and connected. These two (though they don’t know each other and live in different countries) show me that you can remain open and energized by life no matter your age. Maybe it seems obvious, but I’ve seen so many examples of the opposite, of people shutting down and becoming brittle in their 70s-80s, that I cherish the light shined by my friends.
The sun is shining into my life right now after a hurricane here yesterday! So grateful to is cold but sunshiny day . I can’t help but thank the Universe for guidance like the lighthouse that never moves – the universe is the source- unchanging, lining eternal existence. Thank you for giving me the method of letting go!
My husband with his love and amazing support of me. My dogs with their loyalty and love and genuine excitement. My yoga students. Each and every one of them. And you all here – you shine some light my way every time I read your posts. Thank you. I am so grateful ✨
So true, SunnyPatti! I would like to add to my list, after reading yours!!!
My husband, my cats, and all who treat me well. And of course everyone here!
Thank you for the reminder!♥️
Having had Hepatitis B
I cannot donate blood,
but I’ve designated my body to donation
on my driver’s license.
I may be too old to be of much use,
but maybe there’s something they can salvage. 🙂
I’m donating blood this Saturday, “Super Reds” (twice as many red blood cells, two donations’ worth, because they give back the plasma after separating the red blood cells out). It will take longer but I love to read so it’s fine. I’m type A-negative, which is on the rare side, about 10% of the population. Looking back at my donation history I realize it’s been longer than I realized since my last donation. I’ll get better about scheduling the next donation the day I’ve made one so I can keep giving the gift of life.
Barb, your post to Michele here is bringing me to tears. Your gift reminds me of how grateful I am for blood donations. My husband was diagnosed with a rare leukemia about ten years ago. He was given several units of blood as they began his treatment, life giving in every sense! We are fortunate that his condition was discovered earlier than many, he has been in remission since completing treatment. Thank you to all who donate!
Our daughter, son-in-law, Emerick & Aubrie, our grandchildren. Such a joy for them to pop in for a short visit, unexpected. I bumped into a hawk feather while checking the irrigation water yesterday, picked it up, gave it to Emerick. The look on his countenance with the gift of that beautiful feather was pure light. Peace, Love & Light.

That sounds wonderful, Katrina! I wonder if baby geese will be coming soon.
I just saw baby Sandhill cranes and they were soooo cute!
Katrina, the Twin Cities had a good soaking rain on Friday and a bit of Saturday too.

That is a beautiful purpose, Ngoc!
My Ngoc, there’s nothing better than to help others.

Thanks for your use of “vicissitudes” Drea. A new word to me, for my vocabulary, if I can retain it!
I’m sure,
dear Drea,
that these two women
cherish your friendship
as least as much as you do. 🙂
