Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives…
Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
It makes my heart sing and look at the horizon ahead.
It helps me to see with fresh eyes.
Grateful living is the SECRET – in plain sight – to being here with contentment, joy, meaning, purpose. There is no end to my gratitude for Br David and Kristi and team for sharing the secret.!
Gratitude matters for all kinds of reasons:
1. It shows people that we appreciate other people and don’t take them or the things they do for us for granted.
2. It boosts our own mental health by making us aware of the good in our lives and finding a silver lining even in the “bad” things.
3. It causes us to value nature and to want to live in harmony with it, rather than exploiting it.
4. It protects us from the trappings of materialism by reminding us of what is enough.
5. It allows us to see how we have grown from times past until the present moment.
With that deepest of calling to come home… to transcend and to become Divine expression, Gratitude is the lubricant and refreshment along that path.
Gratitude reminds me of what is actually important.
With gratitude, I try and counter the negative and cynical thoughts that seem to be my normal mode. I feel
Like I’m flexing a muscle that has atrophied. This is part of my attempt to change. To move forward. To be a better version of myself.
It’s a tool for reminding us of what’s important. It’s easy to forget these things when we are in the daily chaos of our lives.
Gratitude is a daily practice that benefits mind body and soul. It allows room in your heart and spirit for the love and light of our infinite creator. It’s a reminder that you are perfect just the way you are. Each and everyone you that I share this space with I am grateful for. And I love to read each of your comments. Thank you for sharing this space and this life with me.
Gratitude matters because it leads to self awareness and self awareness leads to 0peness and openness leads to personal growth and personal growth leads to presence and presence leads to the willingness to be an instrument of a grace that if allowed to flow in and through us could transform the world.
I have pasted one of my poems below. It is based on the Adam and Eve myth of the Old Testament which states that Yahweh placed angels in Paradise to guard the Tree of Life after he clothed Adam and Eve for their journey which hopefully would evolve from “seeking to seeing reality.” I’m sure I’ve posted it before but this question prompts me to post it again. My mentor never referred to heaven and hell. He always wished and hoped we would gather again in paradise.
WE ARE PILGRIMS ON THE JOURNEY.
WE SEARCH BUT ALL PATHS LEAD NO WHERE.
WHY? BECAUSE WE NEVER LEFT THE GARDEN.
WE JUST THINK WE DID.
AND WHAT WE THINK MANIFESTS.
AND WHAT MANIFESTS BECOMES OUR REALITY —
A REALITY THAT DENIES OUR BIRTHRIGHT
AND IMPRISONS OUR VERY SOUL.
SO LET US RE-MEMBER and RE-CLAIM THE GARDEN.
GATHER BENEATH THE TREE OF LIFE.
ROOT OURSELVES IN ITS AGELESS WISDOM
AND BECOME WHAT WE WERE MEANT TO BE.
WHOLE, WHOLLY, ONE WITH NATURE
ONE WITH ALL CREATION,
WEATHERING ALL THE SEASONS OF LIFE WITH GRACE,
AND GRATEFULNESS FOR IT ALL.
Lovely Carol. It is a real paradigm shift to see the world as Eden. I like it very much. I like the idea of the paths that lead nowhere. Your poem is brilliant! I will “hold” this today as I go about my day. 🤗
Thank you, Carol, for your wonderful ‘ecumenical’ poem – we are all together in the garden!
Wow! What an empowering post! I thank you for helping me see the story of Eve and Adam in a different light. Your poem is gorgeous!!
“And what we think manifest, and waht manifest becomes our reality” I have to take these lines to heart and make some changes. Powerful!
Thank you, Ana Maria, for inspiring me to read Carol’s empowering post!
Ana Maria, Thanks for your kind words. It brings me joy to know it was helpful to you.
Each day our life will build upon whatever foundation we give it in our mind. We can wake and focus upon our anxieties, our pain, our problems, or we can focus on gratitude. Whatever we focus on, will expand. The gratitude doesn’t exactly change our physical circumstances, but it does change how we relate to it and life will follow that path. Recognizing smaller blessings will bring recognizing larger blessings. Gratitude opens us to enjoying life and feeling love on both the good days and even the not so good days.
Holly so very true. Hugs, Carol
Thank you, Carol! ❤
There is no better way to give acknowledgement and reflection to the source of Love, Grace, Beauty, and existence itself
Gratitude keeps us spiritually grounded and taking our place in right relationship to all of God’s creation.
We take so very much for granted and forget to look up and hold our heads high.
I notice most people look down or directly in front of themselves, whether walking or looking at our electronic devices. We forget the beauty surrounding us, gratitude helps us too see much more, like looking up.
