I shared my time and attention for one of my Meals on Wheels clients who needed a prescription picked up. He had no $ for the co-pay. Fortunately it wasn’t much so I was able to get it and take it to him. I will also be in contact with his home health nurse to see if we can get him on some additional prescription assistance.

Offering cooking lunch for others, kindness and a hug, inviting to meditate together today, helping others onward if possible in words and deeds. Deeply grateful for the encounters at this lovely sunny day.

    A blessing:
May the sun bring you new energy by day.
May the moon softly restore you by night.
May the rain wash away your worries.
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk gently through the world and know it’s beauty all your days.

I can share compassion. So many of the challenges in our world today are steeped in the pain of the past–our pain and the pain of our ancestors. I share a entry from my 1992 journal.
    March 10 1992 Journal Entry
Let it be known that I am willing.
    Willingness is my constant-personal-decision.
Supply is no longer my biggest concern.
Validation is no longer my biggest need.
Faithfulness—trust in myself and life–is my only job.
    “I Am” is my motto.
“Here I Am” is my strength.
“Be not afraid. I AM with you always,” is my comfort.

Two quotes that have helped me define my understanding of what it means to heal and to be an instrument of healing in this world are pasted below.

“Our wounded child is not only us; he or she may represent several generations of ancestors. Our parents and ancestors may have suffered all their lives without knowing how to look after the wounded child in themselves, so they transmitted that child to us.So when we’re embracing the wounded child inside us, we’re embracing all the wounded children of past generations. This practice doesn’t just benefit us; it liberates numberless generations of ancestors and descendants. This practice can break the cycle.” -Thich Nhat Hanh The Art of Communicating

Henry Nouwen says, “Forgiving does not mean forgetting. When we forgive a person, the memory of the wound might stay with us for a long time, even throughout our lives. Sometimes we carry the memory in our bodies as a visible sign. But forgiveness changes the way we remember. It converts the curse into a blessing. When we forgive our parents for their divorce, our children for their lack of attention, our friends for their unfaithfulness in crisis, our doctors for their ill advice, we no longer have to experience ourselves as the victims of events we had no control over. Forgiveness allows us to claim our own power and not let these events destroy us; it enables them to become events that deepen the wisdom of our hearts. Forgiveness indeed heals memories.”

1992, the first time I quit booze . . . . till “09”. ‘Lost in the woods’ is a polite way for me to frame it. Thanks Carol, Charlie & dear Sparrow.

      Thank you so much,
      dear Carol Ann,
for posting Henry Nouwen’s thoughts on forgiveness.
      They take the twisted-ness
      out of forgiving
      without sending the message
that it was all right what they did.
      Forgiveness
does indeed ‘deepen the wisdom of our hearts’
      if we truly forgive.
      For me,
      that knowledge
was a long time coming. ♥

Thank you for the wisdom, this morning, Carol Ann.
1992! It seems like so long ago and not so long ago. You were already in the path. I was still lost in the woods. Deep in my distractions, shame, and fear. It would be decades before I came to willingness and surrender.

Charlie, I’m smiling at your response. In 1992 I was 50 years old and both of my children were grown so I was not a spring chicken in experience or age! Thanks for your kind words. I do believe that we write beyond our ability to live our words. That is why I love the journaling process. It has helped me to gain self awareness. And many times even now at 83, I struggle with surrender.

Ah, something I can share with others today… Let’s see. Maybe an easy-to-make Vietnamese yogurt recipe.

    Ingredients
(Use the same cup to measure everything)
    1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup hot water (from a water dispenser, about 190°F)
    1 cup plain yogurt
    2 cups low-fat milk

    Important:
Before starting, make sure all jars or containers for the yogurt are very clean and have lids or covers.

    Step 1
In a bowl, stir the sweetened condensed milk and hot water together until well mixed.

    Step 2
Add the low-fat milk and stir again until everything is smooth.

    Step 3
    Add the plain yogurt.
Pour the mixture through a fine sieve or strainer to make sure the yogurt blends smoothly into the milk.

    Step 4
Turn the oven on to 350°F in summer or 385°F in winter.
Let the oven heat for 15 minutes.

    Step 5
Pour the yogurt mixture into the clean containers.
Place the containers in a tray or large pot.

    Step 6
When the oven reaches the temperature, turn the oven OFF.
Carefully place the tray of yogurt containers in the warm oven.
Cover the tray with a towel.

Let the yogurt sit in the oven for 10–12 hours.

How to know it is ready
The yogurt is ready when you turn the container upside down and the yogurt does not spill out.

You can enjoy Vietnamese yogurt with nuts, berries, cereal, or simply by itself.

    Have a wonderful day! 🥛
