5-Day Pathway
Live Your Life As a Sacred Pilgrimage
Build your compass, gather your guides, and step into your future with reverence, curiosity, and wonder.

Join us in celebrating Br. David’s milestone 100th Birthday with a year of inspiring new educational programs designed to strengthen your practice. This program honors our founder’s approach to life as a seeker who celebrates each step along the journey.
Across the centuries and around the globe, millions of people have made their way to the holy sites of Mount Kailash in Tibet, Santiago de Compostela in Spain, Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and hundreds of other famous and lesser-known destinations that hold spiritual, historical, or cultural significance. Many others make pilgrimages to stand on their ancestral homeland, to visit the birth or burial place of a revered leader, or to gaze with awe at one of the earth’s wonders. For every such journey, the experience is enriched by asking essential questions:
- What are my intentions, and what am I seeking?
- What touchstones will I carry to guide my way?
- How will I embrace each moment gratefully, even when faced with inevitable challenges?
- Will I have the courage to welcome new people and experiences?
- And what will allow me to keep my heart open to wonder and possibility, even when I’m weary?
A miles-long physical pilgrimage offers a powerful metaphor for our lives, inviting us to ask these same questions of ourselves as we make our way each day along life’s path. Considering your life as a pilgrimage allows you to gain insights from your past, bring greater perspective to the present, and step into your future with trust — all essential elements of living gratefully.

Pathway Overview
Delivered as a 5-day series of emails, our Pathways provide guidance, inspiration, and practices to help you cultivate a more grateful life. Each day includes an introduction, inspiring resources, daily practice, reflection prompts, and supporting research. Live Your Life As a Sacred Pilgrimage takes place February 23 – 27, 2026.
When you pause to envision your life as a sacred pilgrimage, you allow the necessary space to reset your compass to your own true north — to reconnect with or define anew where you’re headed.
Living life as a sacred pilgrimage is an invitation to open your eyes, heart, and mind to wonder and surprise. A walking pilgrim pauses for the exquisite flower or stunning vista, is curious about fellow travelers and different lands, and becomes attuned to new thoughts and insights that emerge from within.
As much as we want to delight in life’s gifts, there are times when our burdens make for a heavy load or we feel we’ve lost our way. If life is a sacred pilgrimage, then you are a sacred traveler through it — deserving of care and tending, deserving of the opportunity to rest and reorient when weary.
Every pilgrim, whether making a solo journey or traveling with others, is following a pathway created and maintained by fellow travelers. As you travel toward your own true north, how are you also marking the trail for others?
Like walking a labyrinth, life as a sacred pilgrimage invites you to the center of your being. It is simultaneously a journey that takes you out into the world but also more deeply and meaningfully into yourself. A complete pilgrimage returns you home anew.
